Lowell Catholic High School Review
A Terrible Place to Work
What I dislike
I disliked my experiences with management especially the lack of transparency or ability to address perceived issues and make improvements. I felt like the management was very exploitative and abused the power dynamic.
Suggestions for improvement
The management needs to be dramatically overhauled.
This is one of the worst places I have ever had the misfortune of working. The working environment is incredibly hostile. The school promotes overworking and underpaying the teaching staff while letting full-paying students run the classrooms.
There is no communication between administration and teaching staff. I was hired and received no training prior to starting. Teachers are certainly not welcome to communicate openly with the administration or make suggestions.
This school is not a team. The teachers work together, but the gap between the administration and the teaching staff is significant.
I worked 60 hours a week easily and was paid less than $35k.
Support from management
The management is the absolute worst that I have ever seen. My direct supervisor knew nothing about our subject matter and horribly mismanaged us all.
Freedom to work independently
Fall in line or get out, but there's no wiggly room to do your own thing.
Inclusive / Diverse
The school is very white, but there is some gender balance.
Overall compensation for your work
The pay is very low, even for teaching.
The turnover rate is very high among employees.
There are very few professional development opportunities.
