Suggestions for improvement
- I think that the institution should provide employees free access to the campus recreational and work out facilities. Staff have to pay a semester fee to use these facilities that are conveniently located on campus; the fee is higher than those at commercial gyms. We put a lot and make a lot of sacrifices to the institution and community, it would be nice if that was available to staff. The staff discount at the dining hall and bookstores is also abysmal.
What I like about the company
The best part about Loyola has honestly been the people. Since I am a recent graduate, many of my coworkers at previous places of employment dismissed me. But here, I feel that I am valued by the community and my coworkers. They all know my name and I feel that I have a connection with my direct and indirect supervisors. I make a lot of great connections that go beyond business and extend into personal relationships that have helped me grow as a person and professional.
What I dislike about the company
Feedback isn't always given in the most timely manner. I get evaluated by my students at the end of the semester and don't receive the feedback until the end of the following semester at times well after my supervisor has read it. Additionally, my job requires a lot of travel and weekly hours that extend well beyond the typical 60hr work week. My compensation and time off does not reflect this and is more suited for employees that work a typical 9-5 job.
