Support from Management
Macerich has the ability to be a great company to work for. However, their short-sightedness and single-minded determination by bringing Allied-Barton to replace their in house security has diminished their reputation. The reason is that Allied lacks the will to higher officers with a strong work ethic and professional attitudes. In a nutshell, because officers are allowed to do as they please without fear of repercussions, customers don't feel safe or secure shopping there. The presence of police officers from Broomfield helps to mitigate this, but they too are hampered by the property managers' severe short-sightedness. Officers from Allied can barely complete an incident report, let alone function in an active shooter situation. However, Macerich does take care of their employees. Allied could learn much from their partnership, but time and again they choose to steer their own ship despite quality and genuine feedback from employees, customers, and tenants. Now, this may be related to their Broomfield and Boulder properties, and the rest of the company does things differently; however, unless it's positive feedback, many great suggestions trends to be pushed aside in favor of more grandiose ideas that "enhance the shopping experience."
Suggestions for improvement
- Management needs to listen to the feedback from the security supervisors and officers and stop the attitude that just because you're contracted doesn't mean you don't matter.
