Suggestions for improvement

  • I would provide healthcare and dental benefits as well as vacation hours to those who have accumulated a certain amount of hours to the company already. Loyalty to the company should be rewarded regardless of position. I would also provide those with more flexible hours more shifts and would cater more to them than to those who only can or WANT to work fewer hours. Those who are more willing to work should be able to receive adequate hours.

What I like about the company

The company regularly provides food and snacks for the employees. The staff gets along well with each other and you can make good friends in this company.

What I dislike about the company

The company needs to have longer and more engaged training. Sometimes you can be put into a department that you are not familiar with, and you will only be trained for a few minutes then will be left alone. The company also should provide benefits to non-managers and non-coordinators because there are some people who are given full-time hours but don't get to receive the benefits just because of their lower status even though they work just as hard or even harder.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The managers need ongoing training on how to handle staff as well as making good use of the talent you have on board. You have good staff but in the wrong positions. Learn how to take action when suggestions and complaints are brought to the management team.

What I like about the company

The general manager is very supportive and understanding, unlike the managers under her that say and act another way when she is not around. Three times a year we get 20% off which is very exciting. The customers are generally nice and friendly. The co-workers and staff get along pretty well. Once in a while, they provide food in the pantry and meals during Christmas and Thanksgiving. Full-time employees receive benefits after 6 months.

What I dislike about the company

The lack of staff especially on the weekend is hurting sales as well as frustrating those staff members that are there. One of the managers does not pull his weight making it hard for others on the leadership team to complete a task. Some staff is not following the rules such as no phone usage on the clock, no show no call, late etc; these people are never reprimanded which causes others to do the same and not take the job seriously. They do not move people up within the store and bring in outsiders as new managers, which in the end brings down the morale of some who have been at the same location for years.

Management is not on the same page. When the head manager is not around other managers lack leadership skills to keep the staff on track, focused and productive. The operational manager knows nothing about operating a high volume store, and since being hired has hindered not only sales by the productivity of the workers.
