It started from the top a little infection needed to be cut out but it was left alone and is still spreading today.
Attitude towards older colleagues
This is an industry where knowing the old tricks gets the big wins. They pushed them out saving 10 to 20k a year loosing hundreds of thousands$
In 2011 they got super high praise for 2009s concieved proproducts. Its the people that do this work. They under pay and over work the people because they still think they are living in 2009 and have the market cornered. The best people started leaving the rest are left to pickup slack more work and mediocre pay=poor results.
Near a metro station 405 and 105 freeways
There was a bomb threat from a disgruntled employee and they still treat people poorly on the way out.
Suggestions for improvement
- Remove the head and repopulate management with better people. Ive worked at many other places and experience good executives. Mattel is just people looting and bailing out. Although this is probably more bait for people who will do more damage for a quick golden parachute.
What I like about the company
The people actually doing the work at one point were world class. They have been leaving in droves for years so maybe not any more
What I dislike about the company
I understand bad finances vmean tough calls but look to the future not just your bonus but two years out. It is a 2 year turn keep the best people so you will have better product for that 2nd year bonus. One slightly better result to guarantee bad results for years is going to hurt you in the long run
