Support from Management
It would always benefit the entire county if the departments could work for the public/tax paying citizens instead of the higher up officials and anyone that is deemed important. Also, as the one who was talking with the public/residents beginning with the initial complaint up until the issue is resolved, I believe the position should have the authority to issue the work orders in a timely fashion instead if sweeping them to the side while other miscellaneous work is going on. The supervisor was non-cooperative in every situation. The assistant position has no say in anything. It's very unfortunate because they are usually the ones most knowledgeable about the daily operations. The supervisor would openly discuss thw fact that he was simply just passing the time until his retirement. There are unfortunately people in the Commissioner positions that have been in office for many years. They seem to grow accustomed to having things done the same way they've always been done. However, the world is ever changing and with so many lifestyles and such an increase in population and growth, the ones in those high level positions are actually hindering our communities growth. Basically in small town politics it is wrongfully all about who you are and who you know. If you are settled or well known you can get away with murder (literally). If you try to help your community grow and branch out at all they have no problem getting you out of there by any means necessary. It is very unfair and honestly discriminating.
In my opinion, women are not typically being hired on to fill Supervisor positions except in a couple of departments. Personally I never felt like I was taken seriously. It seemed as though a woman couldn't possibly take care of anything except office duties. I was also harassed by coworkers and superiors.
