It is a culture dominated by the owners. As a result, there is an atmosphere of uncertainty. (The managers will not make decisions most of the time. And when they do, you can't count on them remaining as objectives.)
Support from management
Practically non-existent. One example is they are unfamiliar with the concept of design specifications. Management makes a feeble attempt to define the product.
Mechanical engineering groups if weak and unfortunately they usually lead the design effort. As a result, there is not much communication.
Freedom to work independently
Very poor in this area. Supervisor feels the need to dictate every move of workers. Very little input from the rank and file.
Lots of meetings, but very little gets decided because of the previous category.
I have no experience with this one and cannot comment.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Watch out of this one. Senior workers are not appreciated.
Not so good here. If it costs money you probably won't get further training unless they have to do it.
Overall compensation for your work
If you are a young person with a family, be careful before you hire on here. Salary is based on company sales, so you can never count on the same paycheck every month. And they only pay once a month. There are no raises or reviews. You only advance in salary if you get a promotion. Benefits are not so good. The medical insurance is poor and the 401K sounds good, but it takes 5 years before their contribution is vested.
Office / Work Environment
When I hired on my office looked like a salvage yard. Everyone had 30" computer screens. Mine was a 17". The machine locked up when two applications were open. I was not a happy camper.
I never say concern for any of these metrics while I was there.
I would call this okay.
I would think that by now, the image issue would be pretty well defined by the other categories.
No job security here. They will continually hire when they are in the process of downsizing. They are continually looking for employees that have further education and skills, but more importantly, cost less.
This seems adequate.
Monthly safety meetings.
No. I was there a short time and accomplished essentially nothing. See earlier categories.
Inclusive / Diverse
No. But I think that this diversity thing is way overblown anyway.
