What I like

free food every now and then.

What I dislike

total sweatshop. You are not fairly compensated for the hours put in.

Suggestions for improvement

there are so many areas that are deficient it is difficult to say where to begin. But the exploitation and treatment of workers and junior management is the worst.

Company Culture

Contant backstabbing from co-managers. Will throw you under the bus instead of working with you to resolve daily issues.

Work-Life Balance

Horrible. Non existent. 65 to 70 hours a week is the norm. Salaried employees are exploited as much as the company can get away with. You are lied to on hire and told no more than 50 a week. hourly employees will make more than you. You will work EVERY holiday period.

Great Policies, Terrible Leadership

Former EmployeeWorked in Human resources/recruiting at Mclane in Aurora, CO.

What I like

They have good policies and good intentions.

What I dislike

It was a company in transition at the time and it was pretty bumpy. Maybe things are better now.

Suggestions for improvement

I don't think that any of the leadership team that was there when I left is still there, so it's possible it is a better environment now.

Company Culture

There was some nice cohesion among employees, but mostly out of bonding together to commiserate over a shared dislike of management.

Work-Life Balance

This did improve. One manager had a habit of calling people at all hours of the night, but after he left, there seemed to be a decent respect for personal time.

Handicapped Accessibility

People who weren't handicapped routinely parked in handicapped parking.

Overall compensation for your work

The compensation was definitely not commensurate with what they were having me do.

Inclusive / Diverse

There was some diversity, but inclusion is pushing it. There was definitely a good ol' boy mentality that drove some incredibly inappropriate conversations behind closed doors.

Workplace Safety

There some people that took safety seriously.

Teamwork

I believe there was some good team work with the rank and file. There were many that seemed to support each other to work towards common goals, but don't turn your back on any member of leadership or they will put a knife in it.

Support from management

My first manager there was incredibly supportive. The last one I had rarely responded to emails or calls.

Internal Communication

Swear words don't bother me, but when that is the only form of communication, things aren't getting done properly.

Gender Equality

That was getting better, but I heard leadership say some things about our women drivers that would have had lawyers seeing dollar signs.

Freedom to work independently

I loved the autonomy, but there was little direction or support when I needed it.

It's the CEO way or the highway

EmployeeWorked at McLane in Lakeland, FL at the time of review.

What I like

The culture of appreciation is trickling its way dow! To all members of the team. Its nice to feel valuable &that the time spent away from family to earn a living can be balanced.

What I dislike

Technology & sops are not always keeping up with the pace of modern change. New tools are available to be more effective & should be embraced

Suggestions for improvement

I would pay closer attention to the time stealers playing on the phone in wait of more work

Overall compensation for your work

Pay per hour is comparable but hours of availability fluctuate drastically based on order volume

Former EmployeeWorked at McLanes Southwest in Temple, TX.

What I like

Meeting some wonderful co- workers who had your back when the work conditions got tough was the best part.

What I dislike

The managers are ditzy and my personal manager secretly dated his employees and had favorites.

Suggestions for improvement

Hire more people to balance the workload to the allotted 10 hour day so we're not run into the ground with a 16 hour day

Company Culture

They need better management

Challenging Work

The hours and hostile work conditions effected performance greatly
