These beliefs and values are the principles that guide our relationships with customers, teammates, and shareholders. Today, over 120 years later, we continue to honor these principles in all of our day-to-day business relationships.

The SPARK Initiative

One way we recognize diversity at McLane is through disability inclusion. In 2013 McLane introduced the SPARK Initiative to increase awareness and provide meaningful employment opportunities to people with disabilities. McLane implements inclusion strategies that recognize talent, increase engagement, and drive business results.

Programs under the SPARK initiative include:

Workplace Diversity Hiring Program: To further expand our commitment to cultivating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce, McLane launched a pilot program that provides real-world work experience to individuals with disabilities.

Hiring Our Heroes (HOH):  McLane deeply values the sacrifice and impeccable work ethic embodied by our country's military. Accordingly, in 2015 our company embarked on a partnership with Hiring Our Heroes. Initiated by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, this 12-week Corporate Fellowship program strives to assist military veterans in making seamless transitions into civilian careers.

Operation Impact Network of Champions: To further expand its veteran reach and leverage its expertise in logistics, information technology, security, maintenance, and business operations, McLane became part of the Operation Impact Network of Champions. Initiated by Northrop Grumman, a Department of Defense contractor, this program focuses on assisting wounded service members who were injured during the war on terror with transition from military to civilian careers.

Application advice

Selection process

In order to ensure a fair hiring process for all prospective teammates, we review every candidate in the order their application is received. Some of our job openings receive many applications and giving each application a fair review takes a little bit of time. Every application should be automatically acknowledged by our applicant system and a member of our talent team (either centralized or at the center) will contact qualified candidates to move them to the next step in the process. Once an initial conversation takes place, an onsite interview will be scheduled. These may be individual or panel interviews, and may all be done in one day or over the course of a few days, depending on the position. At that point, if the candidate and hiring team agree the position is a good match their career journey, an offer is extended. Required pre-hire assessments and screenings take place, and you're ready to start!

Company Culture

I work for this company six months Fort Worth the Oak Grove location I've never been worked like that before in my life 17 18 19 our days back to back when I first started and someone must have told these people that this was illegal because they started working us 16 hours after that back to back. The schedule time to come in changes every other day by 1 are 2 hours you might come in at 2 a.m. and get off at 6 p.m.

Work-Life Balance

You will have no life you will be tired mentally and physically if you're trying to lose weight trying to get no sleep if you don't want to pick the kids up from daycare on time if you want to have a accident driving home after working 16 hours for 3-4days in a row this is the place for you !!!The reason why employees at these billion dollar companies start unions so the companies are not taking advantage of them like this. I was employed here six months and I work the same amount of hours as a person who has been full-time on a job for one whole year. The money was good but this will get old real quick best of luck.

Suggestions for improvement

  • This company should be ran 24 hours a day 5 days a week they also need two 12-hour shifts so the employees can get home to their families at a decent time add an on-site daycare!!

What I like about the company

I do like the fact that the starting pay is pretty good that tuition reimbursement is a plus the CDL driver training is a plus

Company Culture

There was some nice cohesion among employees, but mostly out of bonding together to commiserate over a shared dislike of management.

Support from management

My first manager there was incredibly supportive. The last one I had rarely responded to emails or calls.

Teamwork

I believe there was some good team work with the rank and file. There were many that seemed to support each other to work towards common goals, but don't turn your back on any member of leadership or they will put a knife in it.

Freedom to work independently

I loved the autonomy, but there was little direction or support when I needed it.

Internal Communication

Swear words don't bother me, but when that is the only form of communication, things aren't getting done properly.

Gender Equality

That was getting better, but I heard leadership say some things about our women drivers that would have had lawyers seeing dollar signs.

Overall compensation for your work

The compensation was definitely not commensurate with what they were having me do.

Work-Life Balance

This did improve. One manager had a habit of calling people at all hours of the night, but after he left, there seemed to be a decent respect for personal time.

Handicapped Accessibility

People who weren't handicapped routinely parked in handicapped parking.

Workplace Safety

There some people that took safety seriously.

Inclusive / Diverse

There was some diversity, but inclusion is pushing it. There was definitely a good ol' boy mentality that drove some incredibly inappropriate conversations behind closed doors.

Suggestions for improvement

  • I don't think that any of the leadership team that was there when I left is still there, so it's possible it is a better environment now.

What I like about the company

They have good policies and good intentions.

What I dislike about the company

It was a company in transition at the time and it was pretty bumpy. Maybe things are better now.
