Support from management
Excellent support by awesome very very intelligent Management team laid back atmosphere kinda like a Google sales position but on a smaller scale . Just very knowledgeable and informative sales management team.
Suggestions for improvement
- Provide vehicles for some sales reps. The ones that want to use company vehicles newer vehicles instead of their own vehicles but a majority of the sales team wants to drive their own vehicles because of the mileage and compensation. Also you get a nice base salary but you do need to meet caps. For me it was $600,00 a year to keep my base salary which was a little over 10% of that which was good but you had to meet this in order to keep this salary the following year . Your commissions were paid towards your following year salary so if you met your cap of $600.00k you got to keep your $60k base of not they would want to know what was going on in the field and then lower your base and your cap on what you had to do. So this would give you that extra 2nd year after your second year of you didn't have your shot together doing double or three times your cap you were out of there. They don't play games they pay big but they want results just like any where else.
What I like about the company
I liked that the family were very hardworking and humble people didn't think they were better than anyone else. They contributed a lot of community involvement. Weekly - enjoyed everything about the company learned a lot about the construction industry actually learned more there than I did in college . It was a great work experience was great learned more than any construction company could teach me.
That's the reason I had the opportunity to work for so many other construction company's because they knew out I. The construction industry if you worked for McNeil you knew your job they are very well respected company in the construction industry in the Richmond Virginia and surrounding areas. I have been offered so many jobs in the construction company just because of working here. Met a lot of key business people learned a lot about construction sales and management. This is a top A grade employer they are awesome people I wish I could go back . I left for about $15k more a year but now I realize I shouldnt have. Great people great pay and learned a lot from the McNeil Family awesome awesome people. Honest reliable helpful.
The only down fall is they don't like you missing time or being late because it does it creates a lot of problems in the construction industry . If you miss more than 5 days other than what your benefit allowance for the first year is they warn you if it's really bad they will reach out to try to help by providing another employee to pick you up or them pick you up.
They really try to work with you if they know you are a good employee the advancement is really good it does take awhile to get moved up but when you do it's usually within . You really have to know your stuff at this place to walk in and inquire about a management job you are going to get drilled at interview process but the pay is great and they know it so they are very very picky about who they hire. Sometimes the intern supertindents say it's the best place to come and learn construction and it's logistics behind it. I'd recommend this employer hard to get on with have to have at least a 3.8 gpa either in business administration or Construction Management or no college at all but at least 10 years of construction experience. .
All the employees are very clean cut . I've got to say this the women are absolutely beautiful if they work there . Just an awesome place to call home. A very stable reliable and trustful company. Excellent learning curve harder than college but more rewarding than college. Lol. I'm telling you you learn more in 1 year about construction management and construction here than you do in 6 years in college. That's what everyone says it's more like a stepping stone employer for people who want to start there own construction company.
Awesome try it guaranteed you will love it.
What I dislike about the company
It's really not that much not to not like about it.
Just learning because it is a lot to absorb if you are right out of college it's a nice place . No the office furniture is kinda of old but it's suitable for what you do you are in your truck most of the time working from your lap top. Also one thing I forgot to mentioned a lot of sales people would want to know its 5% on gross and 10% on profit excellent pay.
But your commissions are paid when you collect the check so basically you are responsible for your account and the productivity and all the materials for your account.
