Multiple layoffs over the past few years brings down the moral.
Support from management
The focus of the business changes a lot. Typically too late to market with new products. The white, male dominated leadership has a bad case of group think. No innovation, always last to the market.
In bad situations, people band together. It seems as though good teams and friendships abound at MEDHOST.
Freedom to work independently
A lot of micro management
Really depends on your manager.
Most of the women I knew who came back from maternity leave - left for a different company or became stay at home moms because of the lack of support once back in the office. The lactation room is some random office that is not being used at the time it is needed. The leadership is a white boys club and it doesn't look like it is going to change anytime soon. Women in leadership don't typically last very long -either they move out or don't succeed.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There were not very many people who were older.
Overall compensation for your work
Pretty good healthcare but if your spouse has access at their job to healthcare - he/she cannot be on your plan also.
Office / Work Environment
Corporate HQ is beautiful and tools provided were top notch.
They will set out a box for toys for tots - or one for "stuff the bus" but beyond that I can't remember the organization encouraging or participating in any philanthropic work.
Since it takes so much to get initiatives off of the ground - there is a lot of hurry up and wait...allows for a lot of time for family.
They are not well regarded in the healthcare IT market space.
Over the past two years they've had approx 4 layoffs.
Once you are in a position, forward movement is very difficult. New projects and objectives are rare.
Inclusive / Diverse
There were no initiatives to promote or increase diverse hiring. They have some offshore employees that I think they count as part of their diversity.
Suggestions for improvement
- The culture is pretty bad at MEDHOST. Hard to turn that around - but big changes at the top would help.
What I like about the company
The friendships made at MEDHOST have been positive. The working environment (office building, etc) was fantastic.
What I dislike about the company
I kind of feel sorry for the company...it just always seems to be a day late and a dollar short to the big boy party.
