- Memorial Hospital Jacksonville, Inc.18.Apr 2018
Memorial was a great place to work for the most part. I had more good times than bad.
Support from management
I had one of the best directors in the entire building, however I may be a little biased because I didn't work other units often enough to meet the management.
I loved working with the team I was on. Everyone would help you, they'd guide you and if you were unsure of anything you could work together until you figured it out.
Freedom to work independently
It's a fast paced environment and you can easily adapt and work by yourself, but you always had team members ready and willing to help you, and you help them.
If you had issues somewhere I could always go to my director or supervisor for help.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Some of the older nurses were very knowledgeable in what they do, and some could do what they do in their sleep I'm sure.
I was easily able to adjust my work-life balance as a single person with no kids. That part may be different with a family.
Always have security walking around.
Suggestions for improvement
- Any suggestions for improvement would be a better communication between nurses and pcts.
What I like about the company
The company cares about their employees, and they go out of their way to ensure employees are recognized for all of their hard work. The company also demonstrates an importance on the mission and over all quality of care a patient receives while they are there.
What I dislike about the company
I highly dislike the strict point system but I understand why it's in place. You can't always help last minute emergencies or getting stuck in traffic, etc. I would change it to every 6 months instead of once a year.
