My direct team I would give 5 stars, but since there is so much crossover between departments, I must overall rate it a 3.
Support from management
NO. Accountability is rock bottom. Nothing is ever done when management is approached with problems
In word yes.
Freedom to work independently
Yes, but mostly because upper management is NOT invested in what's going on.
Communication is unheard of!
As far as I know, yes. I suspect men in equal positions are paid more.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I have see a couple of incidents where this was NOT the case.
Absolutely non existent.
Overall compensation for your work
Employees of a local chain gas station make more money than I do with decades of experience.
Office / Work Environment
Absolutely NOT. Equipment goes down and is not fixed timely.Everything is outdated. In the summer we boil, in the winter we freeze. The hospital is filthy. Housekeepers who work are hard to find. Elevators break down frequently. power surges/outages are a regular occurrence.
Not that it is obvious.
Hard to get time off, so that keeps them from getting a higher rank.
No. We are a laughing stock in the community. Nurses are leaving in droves.
They do overall well in this category.
I am highly skilled but get only moderate support in doing my job and that makes for a pretty challenging task at times.
Inclusive / Diverse
They do a fairly good job of this.
Suggestions for improvement
- Get someone else to take over the reins. Seriously. Get rid of upper management who seemingly are biding their time until the inevitable happens (we close down). Nothing can change for the better until we are under the leadership of a different entity. CHI/BAYLOR/DIGNITY, or whatever our name is now, cares about money and "productivity" ONLY.
What I like about the company
My immediate coworkers are like family. They are good people and work hard. They care about the community.
What I dislike about the company
Management is bullied by Corporate. They in turn push their unreasonable expectations off onto the staff and make decisions for financial reasons which are not always prudent or in the best interest of the patient.
