Support from management
The management team basically work for themselves and over inflated checks. If THEY want something a certain way, no matter WHAT the customer says, nothing will happen. So many issues with this.
One of the few highlights is that employees tend to work VERY well together. We're all miserable and I guess misery loves company.
Most of the team leaders are female or minority.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Lots of long term employees.
Small company equals very little room for growth. There are a lot of "middle management" positions, but since there's very little to no turnover within upper-level management, Mergent is essentially a place for young people to get "real world" experience before getting a "real" job.
Overall compensation for your work
We have not had pay raises nor cost of living raises since 2008. Starting pay is average to below average for the industry and the 401K match was stopped in 2009. All in all, no good.
Office / Work Environment
Physical working conditions are fine: fairly new building, new computers, in-house gym, etc... However, the poor benefits and low pay lead to bad morale.
Mergent has a poor internal image, but an ok external image.
Because of the low pay and poor benefits, you can basically do whatever you want and they will keep you because they have a hard time keeping good employees.
Inclusive / Diverse
Mergent is very diverse, featuring people from different countries, ethnicities, religions, etc...
Suggestions for improvement
- Too many to mention, but I will give 2 suggestions: take better care of your employees and listen to the needs of your customers better
What I like about the company
What I dislike about the company
Low pay, no 401K match and managers that seem to be more interested in lining their pockets than taking care of their employees.
