Employees are not recognized for thinking outside of the box.
Support from management
No training, no indoc, no comprehension of employee relations.
Office / Work Environment
Cash register equipment is severely outdated and slow. Returning items to store shelves is a nightmare due to minimal scan gun feedback. No shades on front windows (at registers) to minimalize heat levels. No fans in store to make temperatures comfortable.
No OSHA training.
Suggestions for improvement
- Management needs to learn to better manage real/imagined complaints by customers. They need to learn how to support/defend their employees. Otherwise they will always have consistent/persistent turnover.
- Michael's has a terrible attitude towards their employees. They are not valued for their work ethics or abilities.
What I dislike about the company
Customers complain (usually to try to get an additional discount) and the employees have NO recourse. This is America and we have the right to face our accuser, before being summarily fired on trumped up charges. This is especially egregious behavior when the employee is an honorably retired veteran with disabilities.
