he doesn't know how to say no. in IT that is bad. You can't make something that is 25 +/- years old do something new without changing the code base. This guy is a yes man.
Suggestions for improvement
- Stop being a company where management doesn't get down into the details. Stop fostering an "in" crowd with projects.

not much to say here the politics is killing the company
I dislike about the employer
if you're not in the "in" crowd you're just out of luck. The people that are good - especially in IT - don't think the new product will do well.
