Work hard, drink hard, hope the debt goes away because were all doing such a good job.
Support from management
Employees are not involved in the decision making process. However, the goals are set and you will meet them or be let go.
Colleagues that party with the VP work well together.
Freedom to work independently
I didn't get that while i was there
Receiving necessary information is like pulling teeth. There are board meetings and tools i.e., reports in place to track when you received your information to do your job.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Overall compensation for your work
salary & benefits were commensurate with other energy company's
Office / Work Environment
The building facility is a historic landmark in Downtown Tulsa. It is an ok facility to work at.
The company does what is required by regulation for Eco.
Yes if you don't mind being on call 24/7/365.
Huge debt, low stock mkt price, lease holders did not speak favorable about Midstates.
As required by law
I observed and overheard the Drilling Manager one day telling how he had the VP on several of the rigs the night before and they were laughing it up with the service hands and the well site supervisors because they were drunk while making the tour of the rigs.
work is challenging
Inclusive / Diverse
NO!!!!!! However, the responsibility of a project is squarely yours until a problem happens and then you get to stand on the side and watch the Drilling Manager and VP fix it. This is not leadership. It is micromanagement. "Note": I saved this company $1.6M when a drilling procedure failed in the field and I was still sidelined at various times when issues occured. Issues always occur when drilling oil wells 1 mile deep and 1 mile horizontally.
Suggestions for improvement
- Hire Professionals and let them do their job. Change from your Centralized Leadership Mindset to Decentralization. More work can be done and the uptight spirit across the board will minimize.
What I like about the company
I liked the fact that they hired me to design and drill horizontal wells. I was hired because I had years of experience doing this job.
What I dislike about the company
I disliked the fact that shortly after being hired and when given two rigs to drill wells with and after i had broken some of Midstates records in the drilling a "Curve Section" the management began to put their thumb on me. My previous experience drilling horizontal wells didn't mean anything.
