Support from management
The goals are ok. But the good managers are few and far between. I had two in my time there who I felt I could ask for help, but others were not helpful and even condescending sometimes.
I loved most of my colleagues. Some were not very pleasant and our jobs did not depend too much on teamwork, but their information for customers was crucial, so those who did not do their part caused more work for the next rep.
Freedom to work independently
We would not know things about inventory, returns, etc. until much later and generally AFTER the customer called so we felt uninformed when a simple mass email could have kept us in the loop.
Definitely not. Men run that company and it is obvious.
Overall compensation for your work
We dealt with angry customers daily, being called names, etc. but were encouraged not to transfer to a supervisor. We were not compensated properly for this stress.
Very hard to juggle life with this company. The attendance policy is strict, but good for people who call in a lot to control that. They just don't consider other circumstances.
Suggestions for improvement
- I would suggest that management be more involved and care more about their employees and their lives outside of work too. There is a mix of good and bad managers, so learn from the good and re-train or replace the bad.
What I like about the company
The job helped me to have experience with keeping my cool when customers were angry. I also learned how to provide customer service via phone, and learned to keep my call times minimal while solving the problems. I also felt that some supervisors were helpful and concerned with our outside lives and would help if needed.
What I dislike about the company
I did not feel welcomed as a woman here. I knew my time there would be short because I would most likely not have the opportunity to move up, even with my degree. There was a supervisor who came in with an attitude and made it hard to work around them. It felt sometimes as if we were walking on egg shells. I brought it up to HR and it was never rectified.
