Support from management
Top management keeps oblivious to the field, operations manager plays workers against supervisors & vise-versa, contradicts supervisors decisions constantly. Ignores illegal practices for progress.
Ignore requests for necessary equipment & manpower needed for a on-time completion as well as safety for the workers. It's always about maximum profit with minimum investment.
Extreme favoritism, regardless of knowledge, seniority or dedication.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Everyone, most of all older workers are expendable for the companies financial line.
Office / Work Environment
Will not provide tools/equipment needed or in sufficient numbers ( 10 workers, only 4 hammers)
They are always 1st, all other events, family or personal needs are a very distant 2nd, 3rd ....
They are well known by all state & federal enforcement agencies ( N.Y.S. D.O.L, E.P.A & O.S.H.A)for their past & current practices.
Your only job security is, if they need you. You will not work steady( but the trade seldom does) but they do not consider experience & time with them as to when you work. You will always be put on a job furthest from your residence, even if there is work next to your house.
Latest change of company name & owners due in part to a major injury to a worker. Tools with missing safety guards are reissued even after being red tagged, no ear plugs, incorrect gloves (cotton, handling steel requires leather gloves).
Suggestions for improvement
- Office management has to be involved, they are not. They hide behind the operations manager (nephew/cousin) and will not address any issues any worker has (laborer or supervisor) with the job, tools, equipment, safety or with the operations managers handling of anything.
What I like about the company
They do primarily prevailing wage work. Ends there ......
What I dislike about the company
They are only interested in you when they need you. You will be used to your maximum benefit to them and then forgotten. If you move on to another company or field of work and give 2 weeks notice, they instruct the supervisor to terminate you immediately. There is no consideration to you having any life outside of work, the more you give ... the more they take & expect on a regular basis.
