Moral has been super low ever since the management change.
Support from management
This was a great place to work for years. Then some new managers came in that don't care at all about our mission or the important work we do. Now it is all about favoritism and who can fill out the most tracking documents not about the work getting done.
The employee teams work great together.
Communication is demanded from the bottom up. But, doesn't happen at all from the top down. All decision making seems to be arbitrary because we no longer hear why something happens, only that it will.
Attitude towards older colleagues
If you are a current state employee, you are deemed lazy and need to be replaced with a newly hired private sector employee.
Training is very hard to get. Management tells you to exhaust Youtube before you can get any training.
Office / Work Environment
No telecommuting. MPCA had a great telecommuting policy for years. One new manager doesn't like it and cancelled the program. Six of our best employees left immediately.
Suggestions for improvement
- Current management will eventually change. The guys in charge will eventually go back to the banking industry they came from.
What I like about the company
Working with great people who are committed to the environment.
What I dislike about the company
Bad management in the IT department. No telecommuting because one manager doesn't like it. Long term employees are not valued. The management feels the only correct opinion is a private sector opinion.
