Very little goes on for recognition....unless you are a Nurse. This is due to most Branch managers having been promoted from within from a nursing position. I worked in the Lab and my Nurse Manager did not understand my job....she thought I was just a phlebotomist.
Support from management
Management is unqualified and although Monroe Clinic in general is a great place to work.....if you are not a brown noser with your boss you will get no where when conflicts arise. Management is continually raising the bar for employees, but never stands behind them to support employee when issues arise.
Some coworkers will give you the shirt off their back and go out of their way to be flexible and help. Others will make you feel like you are back in Jr High and are lazy and somehow because they are friends with the manager continually get away with inappropriate work ethic.
Freedom to work independently
There are job descriptions but in the day when most companies are trying to work smarter.....and believe me when I say I was on a committee to work to resolve issues to make working together bettera do easier....in over 4 years we accomplished not one thing. What ends up happening is employees get overloaded with work with no resulting pay difference for the added duties.....Less people and more work....
Communication is clear in some areas and not so clear In others. Let's just say if you work up at the main hospital you are gold, but the clinics are an afterthought unless they have a great manager, which Freeport does not. Most Branch communication is relayed through the Manager.
Full equality here....in fact if you are a woman it is preferred....
Attitude towards older colleagues
They love older workers to volunteer....they do not want to pay you. And if you have been in your position for a long time....you are not safe...they are much happier to force you out and pay a new person less to do your job.
They promote further education here. There are programs to help finance college education....but watch out lots of those employees that are returning to college will do their homework on company time leaving those of you that already got your education to pick up their slack.
Overall compensation for your work
I was happy with my salary while I worked there, until they pushed me out the week before my raise kicked in and we got bonuses for prior year, and replaced me with a lower paying job set. They will do anything to save a buck, so negotiate well here as raises are little to nothing and bonuses are contingent on many factors....
Office / Work Environment
They recently remodeled pieces of the building but that just made the rest of the building look even more drab....a complete face-lift for the remainder was put on hold indefinately...again the situation is more attention goes to the main hospital.
Expectations are high at a health care site. They never close the doors and you need to be prepared to make it to work and even stay in town if necessary to make it back the next day. Vaction time varies on department some have trouble getting time scheduled off.
Monroe Clinic as a whole is very well liked and talked about. But the Freeport Clinc very much resembles a public aid office.
HUGE RISKS....Health care is very unstable as they try to keep up with the changes from Obama care and Medicare requirements. This seems odd since there will always be sick people and a need for employees, but don't be fooled.
Yes this is not a problem here.
I worked at the Freeport Clinic for 5 years and not once was I given any emergency information....oh I take that back they handed out a few things to prep us for when auditors came through so we would have the right answers....I was appalled by the unpreparedness of this medical facility....they made us take online quizzes each year to be able to say they did that training....however all online information was directed to how things would go at the Hospital not the clinics.
Work is difficult and tedious some people take great satisfaction in a job well done.....that will be beat out of you in the time....
Inclusive / Diverse
Nope....if your ideas don't match up with Management's they will find a away to get rid of you. They promote that they welcome all ideas. But then they will either take credit for the ideas they like or not even consider and bury ideas that could bring about good improvements.
