What we offer

What is special about working for us?

What distinguishes Monster from its competitors? Vision, energy, creativity. And the fact that we encourage every employee to unleash her or his potential. Nobody knows better than we do what it takes to grow, develop, enhance and advance your career and your life.

How would we describe the company culture?

We encourage collaboration, embrace innovation and believe in the importance of work-life balance.

At Monster, we are united, but not uniform. We view diversity in our own workforce as not only a strategic advantage but as a driver of great performance, a source of personal and common achievement and essential to our growth as a company. Reflecting those we serve, the Monster workforce is a global mosaic of talents, knowledge, insights, experiences and skills. We realize that company success depends on representation of the greatest possible range of needs, cultures, desires and values.

Here, we continue to celebrate the many differences that make each of us unique, and know that it is these differences that help make Monster a successful enterprise. It is our ongoing goal to create a culturally aware workforce that mirrors the makeup of the interconnected world in which we live and in the process create new ways of thinking and new ways of creating opportunities.

Monster's Values
Mutual Respect, Openness, Self-Motivation and Partnership

We are a global organization of diverse people and audiences, and we succeed when we act as one. We are one group of highly motivated, wholly accountable individuals, unified in our vision and actions.

Candidates and Consumers First

Our organization's life's blood is our customers and our consumers. Without them, there is no us. We will listen to them. We will measure their satisfaction and we will treat them as though our professional lives depend on them...because they do.

Responsibility and Accountability

Every decision and action is an opportunity to demonstrate our collective integrity. We will live up to our values. We will not tolerate unethical behavior, and we will support each other by doing what's right.

Relentless Innovation

As a technology-enabled enterprise, we must drive innovation in order to grow and to stay ahead of the competition. We will question the status quo, we will think big and we will innovate through our customers and consumers. We will be relentless in execution to turn innovative thinking into reality.

Continuous Improvement in Execution

To reach our potential as an organization, we must agree that good isn't good enough. To deliver excellence daily, we will drive continuous improvement, benchmark and implement best practices, execute strategically against goals, and reward outstanding performance.

What else should applicants know about us?

Our Global, Giving Community

Whether supporting innovative programs or volunteering time, Monster and its employees are committed to being involved charitably around the globe.

As the leading global online career and recruitment resource, we believe we can strategically utilize our time, talent and resources to benefit programs and people in the communities in which we live and work.

Monster supports a variety of philanthropic and community-oriented activities at the local, regional, national and international levels. We focus our charitable investments on those programs that closely align with our business goals and objectives and are focused on the areas of education and career development/training.

Monster's Veterans Hiring Program

Monster's Veterans Hiring Program gives veterans the tools to transition the skills, knowledge and experience gained in the military, to a successful corporate career. We've found that sales and customer service are areas where veterans excel, and we actively seek them out for these roles. The ability to lead, multi-task, work in a fast paced complex environment and think and act quickly, are the key characteristics we look for in candidates for these positions.

For veterans who've had minimal work experience outside of the military, Monster offers mentoring. Pairing an experienced veteran with a new hire helps transition that employee into the corporate world, and promotes a fast track to leadership positions down the road.

Reviews - What employees say

3.84 Employees say
2.87 Applicants say

Company Culture

The people at Monster WANT to be successful. They WANT to help each other. And the genuinely WANT to do good. They simply are not given the tools to do so

Support from management

Senior management does not understand the pressure they put on sales reps and managers to meet expectations that the company is fully aware is not within the scope of reality. Aim high is how sales should be. But when the goals are simply not achievable, you destroy morale

Teamwork

Again, the people are great and work well together, with the limited tools given

Freedom to work independently

No flexibility in how you run your book. Do it how management expects. Period.

Internal Communication

Input is never asked from the lowest levels. All communication comes downhill, typically in form of admonishment

Gender Equality

Historically this company has not given much chance or support to females in growing their careers, especially into leadership roles.

Career Development

Tempe is a small office with no real growth potential.

Overall compensation for your work

While the base is good compared the the local average, the quality of sales professionals in the office are not paid well overall when low commissions are factored in. PTO is frowned upon and other perks have evaporated over the years

Office / Work Environment

The Tempe location is bland, office cubicles with nothing special to offer, compared to the majority of other sales organizations with a ten miles radius.

Work-Life Balance

The stress level in selling an underperforming service, at a premium price, being held to unrealistic and unobtainable goals makes the job unbearable.

Company Image

Monster has been passed. They are not wven part of the conversation when you ask most companies who they use to hire anymore

Job Security

They can’t let you go, as hiring new people with talent is difficult. There are lots of sales jobs in the area with better offerings, work environments and overall compensation

Challenging Work

Selling an underperforming service, at a premium cost, when most of your prospects either don’t know who you are (and competitors crush you in advertising) or they are former customers and got burned on ROI, with support from the corporate office evaporating....yeah challenging work is an apt description

Suggestions for improvement

  • Make the compensation plan for both reps and managers attractive to retain the talented people who give their all to keep this company relevant

What I like about the company

The people are great. The Tempe office has people that care, are skilled, and desire greatness.

What I dislike about the company

The company does not care about sales reps and sales managers. The employees have been an ignored and disregarded commodity for years

Company Culture

Probably depends on which office you work in. This location has a terrible culture.

Support from management

Management at this location is not supportive at all nor do they provide any substantive direction on retaining clients. Again inferior product is a huge issue and Monster is overpriced.

Teamwork

Teamwork amongst the teams is good but again it’s hard selling inferior product.

Freedom to work independently

Not necessarily, especially when the focus is primarily on KPIs. Monster wants reps to call clients on a monthly basis at the least if not everyday. Most clients not doing business with Monster not want to talk to Monster. Clients who are doing business with Monster are typically not happy with the performance of the products so they really don’t want to speak with Monster reps.

Internal Communication

It’s been terrible. They’re trying to improve that but inferior product and inferior version of CRM (they got what they paid for) makes it difficult

Gender Equality

Very very few females in management positions at this location and few at corporate level.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Older colleagues have been there 6 or more but they certainly don’t hire too many older colleagues at this location.

Career Development

None if you are in sales. Unless you are meeting your goals which that only happens for the reps that have been provided good territories and yes, they take care of some reps and not others.

Overall compensation for your work

It’s gone down every year I have been here. Over the last couple of years the sales reps have had several different comp plans and not built to compensate well. Come is different depending on when you were hired and who hired you, if you are male or female and other situations. Turnover is extremely high.

Office / Work Environment

Terrible. Our location has been neglected and not updated for years. Just this year they made updates but nobody utilized the space because management frowns upon it. Also reps are too afraid to utilize the space because they are trying to hit the ridiculous KPIs we have to adhere to or we lose our jobs. Disregard the fact that most reps are only renewing around 45% if their existing customers...at most. Again more focus on KPIs than performance

Environmental Friendliness

Good I guess but you’d be lucky if you get to go outside and enjoy the environment but alas those darn KPIs. Oh, we did just get a couple of recycling options to dispose of cardboard, paper or aluminum. Yay.

Work-Life Balance

Work life balance is better at some locations than others. Management at this location is not flexible.

Company Image

Inferior product and high prices

Job Security

Terrible. Retention rates are extremely low due to poor performing product but the company wants to blame the sales reps.

Handicapped Accessibility

Our building stinks for handicap accessibility. One handicap entrance which is hard to find and in back of building in the parking garage. Our office has no handicap accessibility. No handicap doors you have to wait till someone opens the doors for you.

Workplace Safety

Steep dirty stairs down or elevator. Good medicine boxes in break rooms though. Stocked full of headache and migraine medication for ...everyday...when you are trying to meet the ridiculous KPIs and trying to retain customers which is few and far between.

Challenging Work

Yes very challenging considering the product performs poorly and is overpriced

Inclusive / Diverse

Very few people of different ethnic backgrounds at this location at all and definitely no females in management positions at this location. Mindset is discriminative.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Improve the product or shut the company down. Pay your sales reps and stop with the ridiculous KPIs. KPIs are a no brained when your product performs well. Clients would actually talk to you if the products performed well.

What I like about the company

Not much. I like my fellow sales reps.

What I dislike about the company

Ridiculous KPIs. Poor performance of products. High price of products. Lack of respect. Management is terrible and worthless. All they care about is KPIs.
