- Monster Worldwide, Inc.12.May 2018
The people at Monster WANT to be successful. They WANT to help each other. And the genuinely WANT to do good. They simply are not given the tools to do so
Support from management
Senior management does not understand the pressure they put on sales reps and managers to meet expectations that the company is fully aware is not within the scope of reality. Aim high is how sales should be. But when the goals are simply not achievable, you destroy morale
Again, the people are great and work well together, with the limited tools given
Freedom to work independently
No flexibility in how you run your book. Do it how management expects. Period.
Input is never asked from the lowest levels. All communication comes downhill, typically in form of admonishment
Historically this company has not given much chance or support to females in growing their careers, especially into leadership roles.
Tempe is a small office with no real growth potential.
Overall compensation for your work
While the base is good compared the the local average, the quality of sales professionals in the office are not paid well overall when low commissions are factored in. PTO is frowned upon and other perks have evaporated over the years
Office / Work Environment
The Tempe location is bland, office cubicles with nothing special to offer, compared to the majority of other sales organizations with a ten miles radius.
The stress level in selling an underperforming service, at a premium price, being held to unrealistic and unobtainable goals makes the job unbearable.
Monster has been passed. They are not wven part of the conversation when you ask most companies who they use to hire anymore
They can’t let you go, as hiring new people with talent is difficult. There are lots of sales jobs in the area with better offerings, work environments and overall compensation
Selling an underperforming service, at a premium cost, when most of your prospects either don’t know who you are (and competitors crush you in advertising) or they are former customers and got burned on ROI, with support from the corporate office evaporating....yeah challenging work is an apt description
Suggestions for improvement
- Make the compensation plan for both reps and managers attractive to retain the talented people who give their all to keep this company relevant
What I like about the company
The people are great. The Tempe office has people that care, are skilled, and desire greatness.
What I dislike about the company
The company does not care about sales reps and sales managers. The employees have been an ignored and disregarded commodity for years
