Suggestions for improvement
- Fire the whole HR department, hire replacements and restrict their authority
What I like about the company
They were completely focused on taking care of customers (members).
What I dislike about the company
They give their HR department to much power. Where it's to the point that no manager has any say over hiring or firing, discipline or even determining how the branch is run. I saw a good employee get fired when his exwife called in pretending to be a member and lied and said that the employee had a conversation with her that the employee never had. The employee's wife was mad because the employee filed for divorce against her and filed a protective order against her, and she was stupid enough to violate the protective order within seconds of receiving it. The wife claimed the employee planned it so she would be arrested, but this was not the case. Anyway, she called pretending to be a member of the credit union her first day out of jail, and HR "did an investigation", firing the employee without ever once asking his side of the story. They never even told him there was a complaint or anything until they pulled him in to fire him. The branch and assistant managers had for the past week been begging HR not to fire him, they tried explaining this is something she'd do. But HR completely disregarded anything the managers said, and almost seemed to relish in the fact that their decision was opposed by others. The worst part was that when they fired the employee, they offered $1200 of severance, which is odd because employees on that level are not ever offered severance. But, the offer was dependent upon a nondisclosure agreement. They employee in question knew his wife did it, so he didn't sign. Well more recently, that employee got proof it was made by his ex wife, and when he got the proof, he confronted her and she confessed. Now he has signed and notarized proof of wrongful termination, and because the circumstance, his attorney expects a 7 figure settlement. All cause HR had to run the show.
