Company Culture

There is absolutely no established culture.

Support from management

Upper Management always changes.

Teamwork

Within the DC, there is a great deal of teamwork. Outside the DC, teamwork is lacking.

Internal Communication

Departments rarely communicate with each other thus creating unrealistic plan expectations.

Work-Life Balance

There is real work-life balance as much may be expected but you will have enough time to spend with family.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Provide stability for upper management. They should be allowed to stand on their 2 feet and not be afraid to say no to owner and CEO.

  • I would replace the entire corporate and regional leadership staff. I would pay the employees a living wage. I would stop the abusive behavior.

What I like about the company

There is nothing positive to share. I go to work every day wondering if today is the day the company closes.

What I dislike about the company

The entire company. The owner has no clue what upper mangement does to the employees in his name. If you post on social media, anything about the company you get fired. If you call the corporate office and complain you get fired.

This company has no culture, 95% of management is from somewhere else and this prevents a culture from developing.

Support from management

Management has no sense of reality when providing payroll to complete assignments

All teamwork is from employees, this is not encouraged through the company culture

Employees have no say in their work structure, and priorities can change by the hour.

Communication from top down is lacking and from employee base is diacouraged.

Women are treated equal however older workers are held in low regard.

  • Unionize, ownership is clueless about creating a good working environment, a union might be able to force the issue. (normally I am not pro union)

You can learn to handle most any challenge

What I dislike about the company

No raises, little opportunity for advancement, open all holidays including Christmas, not enough help to do your job right, they never listen to employee ideas, working conditions are bad at best and likely illegal.

Company Culture

There is no company culture, they seldom promote from within therefore the culture at any given store will be that of where ever the new manager came from

Support from management

Front line managers have almost no authority as every secession is micro managed from home office management

At least in my location teamwork is very important as we are given such a low payroll to work with we have to work well together to stay above water

Freedom to work independently

Workload is fairly distributed as much as possible considering there is usually nobody to distribute it to

There is a lot of communication from stores to top but very little feedback

It is a better place for women than men

Attitude towards older colleagues

It is a bad place for seniors, I know of several experienced managers 50+ who have been passed over for promotion for younger less experienced candidates. Others have been forced out altogether

Career development is non existent.

Overall compensation for your work

Wages are low, mostly minim wage, and it is not a lot better for assistant managers. For store manager and above it gets better but they still don't give raises

They don't take safety or customer service seriously

Environmental Friendliness

In six years I have never heard it mentioned

Work-Life Balance

There is no balance, all employees are expected to be available 24 - 7 but our needs are not considered.

The company image among most employees is that they are very greedy. It does seem accurate

It is hard to answer this because it is a private company and they never share financials

No and I don't know of any disabled employees

They provide no safety training and are very slow to replace unsafe equipment

The work is very challenging, especially when you are not given the tools to do your job

New ideas are completely ignored, or if the District Manager likes an idea, they take the credit

  • Develop a program to build a company culture through retainment and internal advancement. Utilize the talents of the people you have. Reward the hard work of your people so they will continue to want to work hard

What I like about the company

At least I'm working, and I work with some good people

What I dislike about the company

They are not honest with their employees about advancement. They don't give raises. They expect a lot, which is fine but give nothing in return, it's all for them.

Horrible, lighting issues only addressed after 3/4 of store is dark. Fire extinguishers not up to code, only recharged if discharged not when dates have expired. Accidents waiting

fairness does not exists, there have been great manager material, but they dont give opportunities; they have their favorites.

Support from management

the MOD expect you to solve every problem without their assistance and guidance, but when there are corporative visits, they take all the credit for all the work done.

communication only exists when things go bad.

They claim to have equal career opportunities but that's not true.
Sadly you can have a better job if you get along with the store manager and if you are their buddy.

This kind of jobs does not require any training and school level.

Fallas Paredes, as said on their aplications: the schedules and hours are adjusted for the store needs.

The employees on the store do have an interest of knowing more of the company, they feel proud of what they do and accomplish, but the reality is that they dont feel like being aprecciated.

Job Security

It happened, and great part of the staff where laid off without any accomodation only management level.

There's no previous training during job duties.
You only have to sign a sheet for the month safety meetings.
They should make safety meetings.

You can do the same work for 15 years straight

They have the employee of the month (Gems)
but you are against all the employees of all the city's stores.

Suggestions for improvement

  • To be more employee oriented, not sales oriented: it might be confused at first, but if the employees are happy the sales will grow exponencially.
  • Make monthly check ups for Assistants Managers and Key Carriers, as once they have their job secured, they tend to forget how to motivate and be a coach for the other employees.
  • Be more considerate on schedules for the student employees and the people that have more than 1 job.

What I like about the company

My former team mates, they taught me every policy, how to do and not to do.

What I dislike about the company

They only hear what the Store Manager has to say, they only reward the Manager, not the employee. Even if a employee aproaches a Corporate member for an opportunity for growing inside the company, they say that Store Manager has to choose, they can't do nothing about it.
