Support from Management
The company reinforces a pseudo-support system. Lip service with no action is commonplace and demonstrated by functional senior leaders. Verizon further engages in a system of fraternization and disparity in female leader and minority leader positions.
Many successful individuals are cheerleaders and offer little to no contribution to stimulate meaningful dialogue. Those who ask questions are viewed as challenging and are encouraged to 'zip it' and respond only with yes, no, or thank you.
Suggestions for improvement
- The company might consider employing candidates with L&D education. While those with degrees in fashion design or religious studies might be successful in any organization, it is helpful for learning practitioners to have a baseline for the field in which they practice.
