Breakdown

18 employees rated this employer with an average of 3.6 points on a scale from 1 to 5.

13 of those employees recommended the employer in their reviews.

The practice culture will change when it is sold, for the worse, with no improvement in benefits, and lowering of morale.

What I like

There is nothing positive about this company. They ruin practices and abuse good employees.

What I dislike

There should be something positive to employees when a practice is bought They squeeze money out of the practice and the life out of employees.

Suggestions for improvement

Need to have corporate people know more about vets. In other words all corporate people should be vets or techs. The lifeblood of the practices- doctors, techs and csr's should be rewarded.

Company Culture

I would avoid this place.

Company Image

Embarrassed to work for them

Work-Life Balance

Personal time only ok for certain deranged employees.

Career Development

No where to go. No training and no encouragement.

Handicapped Accessibility

Nothing at all for people with handicaps

Overall compensation for your work

Very unequal pay. Favorites get more money. Especially men and boys.

Inclusive / Diverse

Dissension always discouraged and punished.

Environmental Friendliness

Only because some employees want to do it.

Workplace Safety

Minimal training until accidents happen.

Teamwork

Much gossip driven evaluations, much favoritism.

Attitude towards older colleagues

Older people distrusted and dismissed. Similar mistakes made by young man twice and old lady once and old lady was fired.

Support from management

They want people to do too much in too little time. No support.

Office / Work Environment

Archaic computers. Too hot or cold.

Challenging Work

Not very challenging.

Job Security

Everyone worried every day about being fired, besides favorites.

Internal Communication

No feedback given unless mistakes made.

Gender Equality

Men and boys always favored.

Freedom to work independently

Lot of micro managing

They really want their individual locations so to do their best and provide the resources needed.

What I like

This has been a great company to work for. I started with no experience in the field but was embraced, trained, and given the chance to grow. In the last year I’ve moved from reception to cross-training assistant.

What I dislike

I wish there was a little more oversight in regards to the goals that the company has for growth and sight.

Suggestions for improvement

We are currently working on our clinics purpose. In this there are a few employees that are left outside a core-team mindset. A little more oversight on this would help to bring everyone together to make sure that some are not doing more work than others.

What I like

They are very interested in seeing growth/improvement in the individual businesses and work to make that happen

What I dislike

The leadership teams change hands fairly regularly due to the quick growth of the company.

Suggestions for improvement

I would update some of the equipment.

The company took a good, successful practice and completely changed the culture ie employees were made to feel worthless

Former EmployeeWorked at National Veterinary Associates in Herndon, VA.

What I like

I can't think of any. Customer service worsened, morale went way down. Many good employees left. The management was dishonest and often pitted employees against each other. Customers realized that profit was their only goal and left in droves.

What I dislike

The emphasis on money and not the employees or customer service.

Suggestions for improvement

More concern for employees and less for only the bottom line. So many employees have experienced anxiety, panic attacks, and mental breakdowns due to the amount of stress and the demands of the management. Horrible hours, workload, etc.

A corporation that in no way values employees, is only interested in squeezing our customers and employees dry. Horrible

Former EmployeeWorked at National Veterinary Associates in Herndon, VA.

What I like

Before the corporation bought it, it was a fantastic family owned business, they valued customers and employees.

What I dislike

Management and manipulation or employees, blatant favoritism. Incredibly stressful environment. Efficiency and care for clients and pets hit rock bottom. Profits decreased after the buy out, compensation decreased too.

Suggestions for improvement

Fire the manager, let the doctors and techs do what is best for the client and pets without resorting to schemes to get more money. The corporation ruined this practice, it would be great if it were privately owned again.

I use to feel like my job was safe until a corporation bought the company out. Unsure of future, looking for a backup.

EmployeeWorked at National Veterinary Associates Inc. in Springfield, MO at the time of review.

What I like

Some of the employees have been there for so long that I would consider them family.

What I dislike

I think that they are so stuck on “state of the art” that the most important things get passed over and ignored.

Suggestions for improvement

I feel like I am constantly looking over my shoulder. I feel like there are certain people in charge that setup others for failure. It’s almost like they want you to screw up so that they have a reason to fire you (mainly because you make too much money).

EmployeeWorked at National Veterinary Associates Inc. in Lakewood, WA at the time of review.

What I like

Everyone is very passionate about animal care and that itself comes before any squabbles the employees get into or how cranky the client is. The animal comes first and I really love that about the workplace.

What I dislike

I disapprove of the cattiness and passive aggressive nature of coworkers and management. I also don’t like the lack of any actual management

Suggestions for improvement

There needs to be a more hands on approach to managing and actually spending time on the floor to understand what each department goes through throughout the day.
