- Nationwide Insurance30.Apr 2019
Nationwide is a good company to work for, the reason I stay on is for the people. They are respectful and supporting a balanced life style between work and personal life. Allow people to work from home when needed. Most of my team mates are positive, but not all. A lot of the really negative people are gone now.
Attitude towards older colleagues
This is one mishap that I find at the company. Once people reach 50 and 60, I have seen them reduced in there responsible, demoted or let go. They recently let a lot of people go who turned 63. ,
I feel so so about this because I think they pick out people that they don't want to promote and these people never go anywhere in the company.
It is pretty challenging and I have to hit deadlines. But of the digital world, I am switching from doing a lot of print work, to web, social media and animation.
Suggestions for improvement
- One is better training for people. Assign a group of people to a new employee to teach them different aspects of the business. Insurance and investment is a complicated business. You not only need to learn your job, but about the different lines of business. Change the way they treat people getting older and give people a chance to redeem them selfs and not be stuck in a nowhere job.
What I like about the company
I have been wanting to go animation for that companies and my current boss is very supportive. She has gotten he jobs that revolve around animation.
What I dislike about the company
Age discrimination and once a person is looked at in a certain way, they will not be able to move up in the company. They also do not train people very well. They just throw new people in a position and either u sink or swim.
