Suggestions for improvement
- Better recognition of each professions. Equal compensation for all professionals.Assess work load and impact of work load to determine the importance each profession contributes to the organization.
What I like about the company
There are programs to celebrate employees such as Employee appreciation, 20 year gala events, anniversary gifts and recognition, employee of the month. There are discounts for wholesale clubs and cell phone companies and PERKS. Also employment referral programs. NYPH is a stable organization and there are different locations all over the NYC area. NYP is famous for its many good physicians and surgeons. People all over the USA come to NYP with the hopes that they will get great care. It's a well funded organization and has lots of donors. Personally been a patient and also a family member and friends. We all received great care and follow up. NYP lives up to its motto -- "Amazing Things are Happening Here"
What I dislike about the company
NYP acknowledges and compensates their Physicians and Nurses very well. For NYP though, these are the healthcare professionals that deserve the recognition couples with good salaries. Based on observation and experience, laboratory staff, especially Medical Technologists, who have the same education (B.S. Medical Technology) as nurses are not compensated the same way. Nurses have 4 years degrees and Med Technologists have 4 year degrees as well but the salaries are way off. Nurses with 20 year experience could be making $100K/year but Med Technologists with the same years of experience will be lucky to receive $75K. Other facilities in the NYC area are paying Med Technologists $90K for 10 years of experience. It would be good for the CEOs and Upper management to learn more about the role of Medical Technologists and what they contribute to healthcare and treatment of patients so they can assess that the salaries they pay these professionals don't compensate for the amount of work and the importance they contribute to facilitating the care of the many patients that go to NYP.
