Suggestions for improvement
- Start treating your staff like human beings. Listen to them and provide some guidance. Put some effort into finding out what is going on in the dept instead of your own self-interests. Provide bonuses for employees below exec and upper management level. Double check the qualifications of those who have CPA licenses but are unregistered which is a violation of NYS rules and requirements.
What I like about the company
Casual attire for non-race days, adequate off-street parking, Belmont Park is gorgeous, decent benefits comparable to most companies, the company puts money into your HSA account if you go that route, coffee is free, Aqueduct is next door to Resorts World Casino, lots of great friendly coworkers, opportunity to see the infamous and exciting Belmont Stakes in person each year in exchange for helping out. Some departments outside of finance recognize their employees and promote them quickly.
What I dislike about the company
Dishonest and unprofessional management. Staff will never receive even a simple thank you for great accomplishments while being constantly criticized and harshly and inappropriately insulted for insignificant things. Management does not help their employees and consistently show up 40mins to an hour late every day and then either leave early or at 5pm on the dot. Management makes significant mistakes and never accepts responsibility for them instead choosing to blame their staff.
