Old company staying on its feet, but management needs to really examine the future of journalism and keep the bar high

What I like

I do feel that the staff works together well and I love my people — we all help each other and subvert personalities and egos for the final product

What I dislike

Upper management makes very bad acquisition decisions, bad editorial judgment. Staff should absolutely be compensated better and we need some 21st century perks!

Suggestions for improvement

Would be so great if they’d allow pets. Flextime, remote work should be easy to arrange. Much more opportunity for advancement is necessary

NYT is a great company work for. You are compensated fairly and there is a great work-life balance.

What I like

1. Training is very efficient and helpful for your relevant position.
2. Most employees and fellow colleagues are very friendly and are just as proud to work for the company.
3. Management truly listens and cares about any issues you may bring to the table.

What I dislike

I do not have much that I disapprove of at this time.

Suggestions for improvement

1. More workplace events. Most events and bonding activities have to take place outside of the workplace, which makes it harder to foster relationships.
2. More opportunities to move up. Not as many at this point in time.

I loved working for the company since it is so well known, but with well-known company comes stress.

What I like

I loved being part of something so big. Even though there was a lot of competition between co-workers, it made you want to work harder. The only bad thing that comes with just a well-known company is the stress to not make any mistakes and always stay on track. Writing new articles about subjects that people wanted to read about was a challenge, but ounce you find a hot topic, you will love to write about it.

What I dislike

I disapprove of some of the decisions that were made, but as in every other working place, you will disagree with certain aspects. Nothing is perfect and you will have to find a way to get along with co-workers, because working in a place were u have enemies is the worst!

Suggestions for improvement

I will improve the diversity of cultural backgrounds.
