Suggestions for improvement
- Higher pay for professors and grad students. Less administrative bloat. Fewer random building updates and entirely unnecessary flat screen TVs. Update the buildings that actually need updating rather than changing paint colors and installing new water fountains in buildings that are less than five years old. A more equitable distribution of funds across departments.
What I like about the company
I made some of the best friends of my life at Northeastern. It is inspiring to be around highly educated people, many of whom share values of social justice.
What I dislike about the company
Northeastern is leading the path in the neoliberalization of higher education, meaning that they are increasingly profit driven as well as bloated. Undergraduate students are the consumers and are given ridiculous over the top amenities while faculty and graduate students are paid as little as possible. Meanwhile the administrative staff has enormous budgets and salaries. I also do not approve of the tie ins that Northeastern has with the military-industrial complex.
