There was nothing but negativity, finger pointing and a general sense that nothing was ever done right and no amount of work was good enough
Support from management
People who had the power to actually fix issues buried their heads in the sand and blamed everyone else, while refusing to adjust procedures or processes
Other employees were usually pretty good at assissting, but at times it was too much finger pointing and not enough fixing.
Freedom to work independently
Decisions were not able to be made by most employees, those that could made it difficult to get help
Emails, voice mails, and face to face requests were often ignored, especially if something went wrong and needed to be taken care of.
It's a small company, with all the career trappings that brings
Overall compensation for your work
Pay was average, and medical/dental were in line with what was expected from a much larger company. However, raises or any kind of bonuses were never mentioned, and there weren't even reviews to base it on
Office / Work Environment
Location is nice, computers are up to date and the temperatures are always good in the offices.
Always 8-5 except when projects came up, or the odd product demo early or late
'Why do I even have employees' was a regular utterance. Makes it hard to be dedicated.
Suggestions for improvement
- Delineate job responsibilities and enforce it. Give people power to fix problems beyond sending an email or leaving a memo. Listen to what people are ACTUALLY having occur, not just what one person is assuming is happening or going wrong.
What I like about the company
Small company that, for the most part, felt like a family. There was a lot of potential for it to be the kind of place you would stay forever.
What I dislike about the company
Constant belittling, negative attitudes, refusal to communicate or address problems in a way that would resolve them, or prevent them from recurring.
