There were compliments for a job well done. Each associate was treated differently, as there were obvious favorites, but everyone was trusted.
Support from management
Management expected much with little training.
Associates tried their best to work well together and mostly it turned out well, until one associate would walk away and you find out how they really feel.
Freedom to work independently
Management expected alot to get done in one shift, but didn't schedule a relief so that you COULD get it done
Always kept up to date on how business was. Always told of local/ regional contests between stores.
Women treated same as men, and sometimes even better
Attitude towards older colleagues
Our management had difficulty relating to anyone who was older. Would joke around with the younger employees but there was clearly an ageism issue.
Mandatory computer class every month. But no personal one on one training
Overall compensation for your work
Good starting salaries. Raises are very very low. They expect alot for for what they pay. There are commissions that you CAN earn
Office / Work Environment
Registers were so out of date that they crashed frequently.
Nobody likes closing every night but that's how the schedule worked. Early day hours were given to the favorite employees. They didn't really care if you had to be home for your family. A whole weekend off was almost impossible
Some employees speak very fondly (favored by management) others felt as though they were discriminated against for various reasons.
I took a day off and was terminated. No job security
They will provide options if disability is temporary. Otherwise you will have to seek employment elsewhere
Sufficient training was always in place to prevent any work related injuries and were always up to OSHA standards
I accomplished much and was commended for my efforts, although they easily forget that you brought the numbers up...sometimes singlehandedly
Inclusive / Diverse
Not in the store I was in.
Suggestions for improvement
- Treat people fairly and equally, especially if they need disability accommodations
What I like about the company
I liked working with older people who were around my age
What I dislike about the company
Started hiring much younger crew. Not everybody was treated equally as there were favorites and age discrimination
