there's very little trust between employees and managers.
Support from management
Supervisor's tend not to want to hear issues or support those that need supporting.
Though groups work together well there is very little "Team" due to fears that are rarely addressed from the top.
Freedom to work independently
Tasks are well distributed but employees rarely have a say on tasks that they want to work on and people done want to allow others to gain knowledge as they are afraid of being replaced.
information is rarely filtered down to the employees that need to know in a timely fashion
Overall compensation for your work
generally lower then national averages for most positions. Benefits are few but the ones they have are excellent.
hours are fairly ridged however some attempt to work around them does work
there is a lot of negativity in the internal talk at this company. Rumors spread and are rarely addressed raising anxiety and fears.
There's been constant restructuring they'll move you to where they feel you fit.
Environment is generally safe
depends on department and tasks on hand
Suggestions for improvement
- Address the rumor mill and move away from the mentality of no one needs to know the big picture of the direction of the company. Rumors are creating fear which stems creativity and sharing of information.
What I like about the company
Northway Bank has good benefits and is a generally safe place to work for. Despite its many downfalls its one of the few good places a person can find in Northern New Hampshire.
What I dislike about the company
There's a disconnect between levels (C-level / Senior Management / Supervisors / Staff). The big picture is rarely shared and communication is on a "as needed" basis. There's many rumors that have been going around for years that have yet to be addressed.
