A lot of people have been here for their whole careers, new employees have a harder time fitting into one of the established groups. Also, situations that feel oppressive or unfair are acknowledged by those with tenure, but no one ever does anything about it.
The company's big focus is on giving scholarships to the employees children to attend college. Not a bad idea, but tons of bake sales and raffles take place, and they request that a portion of your pay be set aside for the scholarship fund. If the funds were for impoverished communities I would gladly participate. But to help foot the bill for students who's parents can afford to send them to college seems silly to me. Also there is an unwritten rule here that if you want to move up, you better give to the scholarship foundation.
Support from Management
There is no support from leadership, especially in crucial times, the lower worker will get the blame.
