Company Culture

It was a great place to work the staff was amazing. My executive was really difficult to work for and made decisions based on personal bias.

Support from management

It was a great place to work the staff was amazing. My executive was really difficult to work for and made decisions based on personal bias.

Teamwork

We always collaborate to make our lessons and other work better

Freedom to work independently

Due to the style of management not at all.

Internal Communication

If it ws Big news from higher ups yes but not day to day.

Gender Equality

The NYC DOE is a very diverse place

Attitude towards older colleagues

Lots of teacher who have been teaching forever are still employed. Some even if they are not teaching to the standard they should be.

Career Development

Lots of professional development and ability to become an admin if you would like

Overall compensation for your work

For the amount of work teachers do they are absolutely underpaid

Office / Work Environment

Yes always clean and custodial staff always was on top of this m.

Environmental Friendliness

This is not their top prority but it dis Get taken care of

Work-Life Balance

Teaching definitely has you out at a reasonable time but a lot of work has to get done at home

Company Image

I love being a teacher but don't always agree with the policies put in place

Job Security

We are evaluated every year

Handicapped Accessibility

We did not have an elevator, but we did have symbols for those with cognitive delays

Workplace Safety

We had so much emergency response training.

Challenging Work

Working with special education students with extreme behavioral difficulties is tough work.

Inclusive / Diverse

Absolutely we had all races, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ect.

Suggestions for improvement

  • The education system in general is broken. I would suggest a focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills across the country. I would also suggest have law makers take a look at what the teachers who are the experts in this area really think is important.

What I like about the company

Working with amazing staff was a great experience. Having a team I trust and can rely on made coming to work enjoyable.

What I dislike about the company

The administration was really detached from the in the classroom work and therefore was not able to support us. They were very critical but did not have constructive feedback to heop us improve. They were always looking for us to teach with the next big curriculum rather than choosing one path and sticking to it.
