The inflight crew are of various races which I found to been enriching. You must have an open mind and be tolerant of others to enjoy this position.
Support from management
If you do your job and don't like drama the management is very supportive. Work hard and stay positive and work as a team member always following the safety rules!
Essential, essential, essential! If you are not a team player then please do not apply!
There are always going to be a few people that want to run the flight or fly solo meaning they do not like team work, this is not acceptable and interferes with the dynamics of the team working the flight. Spending 8-10 hours working aboard a jet with a person who is not a team player is never good!
Freedom to work independently
This is a TEAM member position! If you like to work independently then I suggest that you do not apply for the flight attendant position! You will need to accomplish your work load and be responsible for the safety of passengers and other crew members without being constantly supervised which is independent accountability.
This position is all about safety therefor communication is essential for successful flights.
I have never experiences gender inequality.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There is much drama but the key to success is not to engage yourself.
As a flight attendant you have many options to grow from your position. Lead flight attendant, flight attendant supervisor, and other options within the company.
Overall compensation for your work
good pay and benefits
Office / Work Environment
Working aboard an airplane is not easy meaning that the engines are loud, the air is dry and the potential for getting sick is high due to the enclosed space with many people sharing this space. This is not a career for all but if you take safety seriously, love customer service, have a high tolerance level and love the adventure of travel you will enjoy being a flight attendant.
What can I say? customer service is essential because not all passengers are friendly and not all crew members are kind, you have to be able to raise above all the drama always smiling and remaining professional while working the entire flight. Most of my flights were awesome but there were a few that were very challenging and I did my best to get through the flight without any issues.
Balancing work and personal life is the most difficult with this position because a flight attendant will be working international flights and will be out on line flying for 20 days a month. this schedule is usually 20 days straight.
Well respected charter airline.
Do you job and stay away from DRAMA and your position is secure!
SAFTEY...SAFTEY...SAFTEY! This is the main responsibility of your position!
This was one of the most challenging careers that I have experienced due to the nature of the workload. Working aboard a jet is not as glamorous as depicted by media and movies! Being away from home 20 days a month, 12 months a year times how many years you work for OAI does pull at your heart strings after a while. Feeling disconnected from your family is one big reason most flight attendants retire from this company and choose commercial airlines rather than a charter airline.
I worked for 6 years and enjoyed my career with Omni. I made many friends, discovered many intriguing and new destinations and learned so much about diversity and cultures apart from my own which led to enhancing my own personal journey!
I recommend this position for the adventurer and someone who is not faint at heart! Wishing everyone applying for a flight attendant position with OAI all the best!
Inclusive / Diverse
Suggestions for improvement
- Omni air International is a charter airline and some crew members look for the same culture as a commercial airline which is not possible due to the difference between them. I suggest that the recruitment team try to select candidates that have a CLEAR understanding of the charter airline culture before hiring them. Hiring just to have a flight attendant to fill the schedule rather than to fulfill his or her responsibilities as a CHARTER FLIGHT ATTENDANT would add a positive atmosphere.
What I like about the company
I love the company and had a great experience. I was always made to feel important and was always respected by management.
What I dislike about the company
Being scheduled to work 20 days in a row every month therefore being away from my family for extended periods of time. I knew this schedule going into my career and I was ok with it but after 6 years I ended leaving OAI for this reason. This career has a shelf life meaning it is hard to balance work and family.
