- Company response included
The culture is antagonistic. People talk so much stuff about each other its not even funny. Its sad that most of this is from management.
Support from management
I still cant get a hold of Human Resources. I have some questions about real life issues such as pay-stubs and insurance. Messages do not get answered for things like that.
This company doesn't support ideas from employees. If a problem is pro-actively being looked at before it happens, this company ignores all suggestions. There is also no point in "I told you this months ago".
Freedom to work independently
Its production, you shouldn't expect anything but conformity. Its the nature of production.
I cant tell you how many times I was last to know when things directly involved me. Almost every time.
They hire a token amount of women but they play favoritism against them. This is complete sexism and its the opinion of the management that women are less capable than men when running a press.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Older employees are being weeded out by this company. Only those in management appear safe (for the moment).
There is no place to move up except for management (which is filled and hired outside for the most part).
Overall compensation for your work
The money is ok but the benefits suck.
Office / Work Environment
Before the new facilities, a 20x20 office held 8 computer desks with employees cramped in these working conditions for years. The managements opinion is to make whatever work for however long its needed. They continued to do this during the height of the Covid pandemic.
This company puts out multiple trash compacted containers a day. These are paper, adhesive and plastic backing put out by this company in an old school way. It is too expensive to go green for this company.
This company is vindictive if you have to take a day off at the wrong time. Don't even mention that you are looking for a career that you want to get into, they will fire you if you are looking for another job.
The image the company puts out is just spinning the facts. Workers get a different image very soon after starting employment. Recently, the company touted "the Covid pandemic will define our company in the future" while firing anyone who went into isolation because of CDC instruction. They do not want any loss due to Covid and regard anyone exposed (needing to isolate) as a liability to their vision. They took PTO from everyone regardless of circumstances and fired those who came back and there were plenty of people who didn't come back (unknown why).
You have to be careful with all the favoritism. The wrong thing said about the wrong person (even trivial) can get you fired (or just ran out). They have fired and re-hired people within the same day, after understanding that they need the position (for now) despite enacting favoritism against the person(s).
This company does not hire severely handicapped people. You will never see anyone in a wheelchair work for this company. The operations are jam packed, preventing so called "accessibility". They could hire someone in a wheelchair for the office but they never have.
This company sends employees into the dumpster to make room for its massive trash problem. It also loads vans from docks which is also against OSHA. It has bypassed safety devices on presses and trash compactors. Requiring a press operator to run before e-stop buttons were connected is a criminally negligent act. Operators were also required to set-up jobs before a overhead lift was installed, using a tow-motor with the forks above their head (I have pictures of this act). OSHA would have a field day if they got to observe the real day-to-day operations.
The work is easy, the challenge is the management.
Inclusive / Diverse
They hire diverse but play favoritism which is often confused with racism by those who are sidelined. But they are not discriminating in the favoritism, you can be sidelined no matter what race you are (see below for sexism though).
Suggestions for improvement
- Stop the favoritism. Stop the spinning (handicap accessible but never hiring severely handicap people). The company is what it is, not what is painted. This company doesn't pre-screen or random drug test. It is a haven for drug users. It is too expensive to drug screen (taking money out of managements pocket). It would also lose 90% of its work force. Public police records show the overdoses in the parking lot. The company needs to start caring about its drug free employees with more than "no tolerance policy" that doesn't do anything but pay lip service.
What I like about the company
The work is easy. However, these reviews are typical of Omni leadership. There was no mention of these reviews to employees of Omni, I found this site by luck. Obviously the management only told those who would give a good review and pad the results. Quoting outside sources (non-employee opinions) is the view of management instead of telling workers about this site. Every "vote" and any "review" was through the company portal. Their are almost 200 employees. Why not more reviews? Non-management was not told about this site.
What I dislike about the company
Management is completely unprofessional and holds grudges. Your life is not enough to actually need a day off. Denial of leave is very common and they blacked out November and December. If you cant take your PTO before November, you have to cash it out or lose it (very common). You also cannot request more than 3 months prior. Making actual plans for yourself is difficult in this environment.

On behalf of OMNI’s management, we want to respond to this post. This individual is obviously entitled to express an opinion about his or her experience while employed at OMNI, but it is unfair to misrepresent facts in support of the author’s negative opinions. For example, the author has misrepresented OMNI’s PTO policy. Employees know the amount of PTO for which they are eligible at the beginning of each calendar year. Employees can schedule time off up to six months in advance. OMNI normally requests two weeks’ notice before an employee uses PTO, but will permit usage on shorter notice when appropriate. OMNI does not have a strict guideline as to how many employees can use PTO on the same day, but OMNI will limit the use of PTO if necessary to avoid disruptions to normal business operations. The assertions that OMNI does not hire handicapped individuals and that it is a “haven for drug users” are demonstrably false. OMNI, in fact, has handicapped employees and OMNI has a drug free workplace policy. OMNI will test any employee who is suspected of being under the influence at work and OMNI has the right to randomly test employees. OMNI uses a drug testing company that comes onsite to conduct the testing so that employees do not have to make a special trip to be tested. OMNI’s HR department and management are easily accessible via phone, text or email. They will frequently respond to inquiries outside of business hours. OMNI does not discriminate or play favorites on the basis of age, race, sex or other prohibited classifications. This claim is supported by the demographic data of OMNI’s work force – as opposed to the author’s unsubstantiated opinion. The criticism of our COVID response is unfounded. OMNI was proactive in its approach to the pandemic. OMNI disinfects after each shift, staggered shift end times, limited congregation of employees, stressed social distancing and has employee wear masks unless it was deemed a safety hazard. OMNI had all three of its facilities inspected by the Health Department and not only did they pass, but we were commended by the Health Department for our efforts. The assertion that OMNI terminated employees because of COVID related issues is false. OMNI has not terminated the employment of any individual for any reason relating to the Covid-19 Pandemic. As a general rule, OMNI does not publicly discuss the reasons why a former employee may have left or may have been asked to leave, but involuntary terminations are always supported by legitimate business reasons, such as poor performance or poor attendance. While the Pandemic has certainly had an impact on OMNI and its employees, the Pandemic has not caused any reduction in employment at OMNI – in fact, OMNI’s total employment has increased since the start of the Pandemic, and OMNI is actively seeking to hire for several openings listed on OMNI’s website. OMNI has repeatedly investigated ways in which to be more environmentally friendly with its paper waste. Unfortunately, neither OMNI nor any of the third parties we have hired to help in this regard has found a way to sensibly recycle the waste. This is not a matter of economics. It makes no sense to use more resources trying to recycle something than are saved by recycling. The allegations that OMNI has violated OSHA regulations and that it has been “criminally negligent” are false. OMNI has strict safety policies. Employees who violate those policies are subject to termination, and OMNI has terminated employees for engaging in unsafe conduct. OMNI’s benefit package is competitive with many large employers in the same geographic area, and is better than many. For example, while many employers offer only a single plan option, OMNI still offers multiple options. OMNI has not increased the employee contribution to the cost of the benefit package for several years. Once again, the allegations of favoritism and arbitrary and capricious employment decisions are false. OMNI’s employee handbook outlines our disciplinary process, which is the process OMNI follows in connection with discipline. The fairness of OMNI’s employment decisions is demonstrated by the fact that very few terminated employees qualify for unemployment insurance. Because OMNI has followed its procedures, and documented the sound reasons for a termination, the terminated employee will not qualify for unemployment. Finally, the assertion that “there is no place to move up” at OMNI is false. In the last nine months alone, OMNI has promoted four shop floor employees into leadership positions. OMNI has developed pipeline positions to help prepare other internal candidates to be ready when other leadership positions become available. Over 70% of OMNI’s manager level positions are filled by people who were promoted internally. Facts matter. The facts demonstrate that this author’s opinions are unfair and unsubstantiated.
