Company Culture

Little to no commendation; employees are essentially told, 'If you don't like it, there's the door.'

Support from management

Ambiguos policys, non-existant communication. Managers make derogatory comments about employees to employees' co-workers.

Colleagues work well together in most situations.

Communication is by way of rumor, innuendo, and mis-direction.

No apparent appreciation for older, more experienced workers.

A recent training program has been implemented, however, it is poorly conceived, inadequate, cumbersome, confusing, and ineffective.

Overall compensation for your work

At one time it was geared to reward the best employees; now it is just the opposite. To make matters worse, we are told that the good have to suffer for the bad, so those of us who do everything properly and follow all the rules, are treated the same as those who do not. We have huge responsibilities. Customers ask for certain individuals by name and demand them for their projects; the company charges a very sizable day rate for us, but continue to whittle down our pay.

Work-Life Balance

The nature of the work makes a normal schedule difficult. If the job falls across vacation days, your are expected to give up the vacation. No recompense is provided, other than possibly getting the days back when the job is over. If you miss vacation and the year ends, you lose it.

The job itself is challenging and for the most part, very satisfying.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Without the front line employees, no company can be profitable. It would be nice to be treated with the respect and commensurate compensation to reflect that. If you treat your good employees the same as you treat the bad ones, don't be surprised at what you are left with.

What I like about the company

Some of my colleagues are very knowledgable and great co-workers.

What I dislike about the company

In the last 3 years, we have been repeatedly told that we are "overpaid, spoiled, babies." Two highly placed individuals have openly made derogatory, unprofessional, and borderline slanderous comments to employees about other employees under their direction. Their actions betray a petty, aristocratic attitude that demonstrates a complete disregard for those of us in the front line of the job.

Our group has taken pay cuts to protect 'margins'; no other groups have been affected.

Safety is of concern, unless it becomes an additional cost or inconvenience.

What I like about the company

I enjoy the job itself. It is very challenging and in an environment that is dangerous and difficult, but very satisfying when our goals are accomplished.

What I dislike about the company

Recent changes to our management have left us all feeling unappreciated and taken advantage of. We work long hours away from our families for weeks, even months at a time, in dangerous places. The job itself is high risk and we are often in places where there is criminal, civil, and political risks. Yet we have been subjected to pay cuts, even though our group generates the highest profit margins and enjoys the best customer satisfaction ratings.
