  • Communication of known client issues within a biweekly newsetter. Steps to resolve and what departments are involved so we can remain confident of what is being done.

My co workers are the best people I’ve ever worked with.

Training seriously lacks in my department. Communication within the company is very silohed. When issues are identified leadership needs to step up to resolve before things are escaleated to the client.

  • Some better communication, a little more flexibility when it comes to doing events in the company.

What I like about the company

The company is usually good about making changes for necessary life issues, although they don’t communicate very well when a large change is happening until the change is already in progress. They do pay well, and their PTO is very good.

What I dislike about the company

A lot of times communication doesn’t occur until it’s too late to do anything about it.

  • They need to have a better hiring process. They do end up hiring a lot of people that cannot actually do their job sufficiently.

What I like about the company

People there are really nice. If you have a good project, then the work is actually meaningful.

What I dislike about the company

The TDP program is an excuse to just treat those individuals like children. You don't actually get the respect that you deserve.

Suggestions for improvement

  • With PHI and HIPAA it is difficult to change many of our policies however a more open mobile device policy would be beneficial. Mid to high level employees have great access to development programs however lower level employees do not have those same opportunities since they are at the frontline answering calls and processing claims. Would be good to create a program that restructured some of their time to personal development.

What I like about the company

UHG is focused on NPS and core values. Over the last 6 years I have been with the company, it has transformed from a company focused on hostile take over and growth, into a company that cares about the employees, members, and customers.

A culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect has grown considerably and I have often recommended that people apply. I'm in a same-sex, bi-racial marriage and my husband also works for the company. No concern about harassment, disrespect, or barriers; from adding him to the insurance policy, to taking time off for the wedding, and (eventually) adoption, the company HR group works hard to make their employees happy.

What I dislike about the company

The company is run by accountants and is often slow at adopting new technology and making sure that the employees have the latest and greatest tools available to them. The conservative approach to spending is important to maintain a constant market growth company, however it can hold us back from being the best we could be. Smart boards in training rooms, newest versions of OS programs, more powerful computer for design, higher-end larger landscape monitors, and a friendly mobile integration would make the company appear more modern, both to internal and external customers.

With over 255,000 employees, and exponential growth, UHG should be regularly investing in their facilities, equipment, and employee experience in order to attract new talent from the e-commerce companies like Amazon, Google, Facebook, etc... It is a good company to work for and if it could portray itself as more than an insurance company, even more top talent would come. A broader information campaign would be great at educating the public on everything that the company is involved in as many people do not understand that almost every career field can be represented at UHG.

The company is too focused on making money and could care less on the employees.

  • Would definitely do more teambuilding and communication exercises. And more overview of rolls and job descriptions and SOP‘s for employees to follow to help support their target audience. Would definitely implement more Policy and procedure for accountability for performance of their employees and a stable consistent training program.

Everyone I work with is a good honest intelligent person and bring something for everyone to learn. the people Are amazing and are supportive personally

Lack of organization within the company no real project management models are followed for large scale projects. Not a lot of leadership quality within management and not a lot of consistent performance feedback for training

I have been in this company for 17 years and they have been good to me.

Need to focus on quality of data loading. There is a push for data accuracy for client lists but not any clarity on what data accuracy means or how it will be maintained in any type of realistic way.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Provide better benefits, including sick and vacation time. Provide more opportunities for professional advancement, or just ANY opportunities, since there are none. Communicate more consistently with lower-level employees. Stop introducing new protocols and benchmarks and requirements, which increases the burden and stress on employees but doesn't actually do a single thing to impact productivity.

What I like about the company

My company at least allowed us to develop subcommittees in this past year so that we could discuss all the changes we wish they'd make. At least this company allows me to work from home.

What I dislike about the company

All of the benefits, and the lack of communication with lower-level employees. The benefits are generally not very good, and they have recently cut our pay, slashed our vacation benefits significatly, and increased micromanagement strategies.
