Company Culture

Culture changes in process, current culture is progressing towards "Reach Group" Management / Employee interface and although there are issues it has moved in the direction upper management has chosen. "personnel who fail to adapt to the new management styles and language will probably not be here in the future"
Positive avenues for employee feedback are in place but use by management is low at best.

Support from management

Believes in Immediate and severe consequences, but enforces at the convenience of management.

Teamwork

Everyone helps each other at the technician/ mechanic level. Good group of hard workers who share information well and help each other as often as possible.

Freedom to work independently

workload is distributed according to most recent crisis, Most work is done reactively vice proactively.
mostly repairs vice preventive maintenance.

Internal Communication

Communications at the department level are as good as the person handling the Phones for dispatching and coordinating service and third party personnel.

Gender Equality

no women in this dept at tech level

Attitude towards older colleagues

older workers are considered experienced on the equipment, newer personnel look to them for info and assistance in gaining needed experience in troubleshooting and repair.

Career Development

No training has been offered at the technical level in the past 12 months. goals are set but not supported by management.

Overall compensation for your work

Negotiate a good rate of pay upon hire, raises and annual increases are few and far between. employee expenses for benefits, IE healthcare are HIGH compared to other companies. if you give 2 weeks notice, they opt out of paying you your vacation. you lose it. It's in the Handbook so they're covered. paydays come regularly and direct deposit is mandatory.

Office / Work Environment

Service personnel spend most of their time on the road or at a rig location. interaction with rig managers by techs prior to leaving for a rig is critical in preventing loss of information between rig and service tech.

Work-Life Balance

Vacation and PTO will be lost or not afforded, or paid out. This job is 24x7 and thats what your hired for. Normal hours do not apply to this area of work.
Your Job will be your life.

Company Image

with the down-turn in the oilfield, employee moral has faded to a shadow of what it was. cutbacks and reductions in hours have affected attitudes and management/employee relations.

Job Security

Personnel cuts are common and no one is safe in the current economy. if your job can be cut, or eliminated, it will be. no regrets and no compensation packages. you show up to work, they tell you your let go.... have a nice day.
Good luck getting unemployment if HR can find a policy violation or excuse to fire you.

Handicapped Accessibility

handicapped compliant in main office areas, ramps available as well as rest room.

Workplace Safety

Company pushes a strict safety culture with training and documentation. Support by management is strong in most areas.

Challenging Work

your being called out to repair a rig that is loosing money by the minute, no pressure... but if you can keep calm, the sense of accomplishment is like adrenaline in your veins.
the problem is... your either the hero or the zero. you will get a reputation as a good tech or a dud.... the rigs want it running, will you fix it right or just make it work ????

Inclusive / Diverse

Opinions and ideas must be channeled the the "Process of change" and approved before implementation.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Lift hourly restrictions to meet impending deadlines, review departmental levels of management. Scale down management and turn the pyramid right side up. Management should be at the top of the pyramid and money made at the bottom. Managers are telling workers we need to do more with less, but they are not cutting back on managers, just working hours for hourly employees who are actually doing the work. Observation: You can't make a deadline if you reduce the daily hours worked. Example: 1000 man hours takes 14 weeks to complete if one man works 6 12 hour days per week. The same man-hours takes 27 weeks to complete on a 36 Hr weekly schedule. Got Milk?

What I like about the company

Owner truly cares about the people who work there.

What I dislike about the company

Middle Management does not have the Owners attitude about their People.
"Hourly employees are expendable and are expected work extended hours during the holidays to make deadlines that were established without consideration for Quality of life or family time. Company has a scheduled deadline requiring overtime for employees to work during holidays annually at thanksgiving, Christmas, or New-years.
