Depends on the store. Most stores with lasting employees are stores with amazing work atmosphere. But the two good stores I know lost their manager this year so they've had a lot of turnover since if that tells you anything.
Support from management
Upper management liked to turn other managers against other managers and or their employees. as a manager you have no support of your over in payroll and down on sales. We watched another manager work 65 hours all of December because they had a pregnant assistant and no payroll and the assistant couldn't move around the store. Instead of the DM, RM or fellow managers helping they took that poor managers bonus for being over in payroll.
Employees are taught to cheat sales to keep their numbers up but if upper management decides your making them look bad, they use it as an excuse to fire you. It makes for a competitive work place. Which means there is a lot of backstabbing coming from everywhere. I worked their several years and I have seen the nicest of managers screwed and stabbed in the back. Friendships end.
Freedom to work independently
Workload is not fairly shared. DM has their favorites so they help out more in those stores than others so that their favorite makes it to where they need to. This is because DM and Training managers are promoted based on who they trained to make the company their money.
Everything is on their time and if you can't follow that then they blow you up until you answer. they have regular meetings but they are used as an excuse to drink.
If they like you and Do as told, you move up fast.
Office / Work Environment
Depends on the manager and the faculty guy. The ones in my area where amazing so no issues. But rah store varies so not everything is up to date or safe for employees.
Gives or take what store and when you where built. We have some gross stores from take overs
None. You live and breath pbt when you are a good manager who wants to move up. If you don't care than its a good work balance because you get to make your own schedule as a manager
The second you make the RM mad you become a target. We watched several managers get demoted over nothing or some new favorite can come in.
Finding ways to sell to your same customer while motivating your staff is challenging. As well as all the other responsibilities as changing lamps, fixing beds, payroll and paperwork and emails or marketing things. It's impossible for the amount of pay. So good managers who do it honest deserve their kudos. Half the mangement in pbt doesn't operate like this so it makes it more difficult to do your own job.

- New upper management and training. It's a tanning salon that operates more as a soap opera than an actual business.

No personal time. Even another paraprofessional I work with told me he would never recommend palm beach tan as an employer. My main reason for never working for the company again is because of the way management treats people. It's not worth it. If your not their favorite, you fail. As a manger, you have to meet high school kids willin to do the amount of cleaning and sales they need to do so you get paid.
