The company at least from most of the C-level really does seem to want to promote a great culture
Support from management
Some of the C-level are great, some are awful, many of the middle managers have been hired because of their experience in other companies, and are not always the best.
some teams work better then others
Freedom to work independently
some teams are great, if you are in them, others they micromanage to extremes
they communicate with the staff have quarterly state of the company addresses for all staff, and a monthly newsletter.
all are treated fairly from what is made apparent
Attitude towards older colleagues
age does not seem to matter as long as you are a good fit
really fails in many departments, they try and push this "pick your path" idea which is a bad way, since the goalposts can easily be moved on a whim. There are no career paths between different departments, or even between teams in the same department.
Overall compensation for your work
it is ok, the department has a weird review cycle which does tend to limit raises based on how the manager feels at the quarter
Office / Work Environment
"upgraded" to open plan, looks cool, doesn't really work too well in practice
open plan, can get noisy but people do enjoy it most of the time
depending on the department this can range from fantastic, to none existent
They try hard to make it look like the best company in the country
some departments are better then others, the company is growing though and has done for it's entire life, even during the recession
they installed special doors even after recent construction was completed to cater for a specific employee
it is a clean open office
Some departments are frequently challenged to come up with fresh new ideas. other departments just have to grind away at the same tedious tasks every day, if you are in the "preferred" departments (read: development) you will probably enjoy yourself.
Inclusive / Diverse
everyone is accepted, they are pretty good at this
Suggestions for improvement
- Some of the VP's are just plain bad, they micromanage, interfere then blame others if their plan does not work out, many of the middle management also seem to embrace the most recent corporate buzz words and management styles, because it seems cool to them, without actually using their own eyes and ears and listening to the employees. They could probably get rid of a bunch of middle management save the money and function better.
What I like about the company
Benefits are ok, some teams have a great time and their leadership really try, the CEO is always approachable and you do feel like he has the best interests of the company and his staff in mind.
What I dislike about the company
Bad career planning, the bad VP's and middle management, that make their staff miserable, the lack of experience some of the management team have, the obvious favoritism (by the bad managers)
The following benefits were offered to me
