Peapod has a very difficult time adapting to new innovations. Warehouse is in desperate need of updating/ new building. Leadership team members can not speak or write in English ( including their manager).
Support from management
Absolutely none. If your not part of the original group you will not be taking serious. If there were ever an incident no questions are ever asked you are just guilty , blamed but never ask if this was true. They literally ask employees to snitch or report anything they might not like with the promise of something in return. Management is what any other company would find violating company policies such as having employees call them when they are not at work, to hang out after work and allow family members to work together.
There is no teamwork in part due to inability to communicate in English. Team members are out for themselves no accountability and absolutely no pride or confidence within the group as the Sr Manager Operations just dictates how it will be, scared to make changes , still doing the same from 17 years ago and 98% of team members do not bring any ideas or ways to improving cost as again many of the team do not have any training in cost analysis or PL. They are just read to the group no one in the group could speak to the financial spreadsheets or which area in Operations need to improve. Management has to explain overall expectations and cost analysis in what some would call disresptful as we are talked as if we are simpletons and some of that is again leadership in rolls they are not qualify to be in.
Freedom to work independently
Their philosophy is do as your told and this is an actual quote from day manager” you will never be able to do what I do “ and that comes from the manager who can not even respond in emails and has to get an employee below him to respond.
The only communications are delivered days late, miscommunication , misunderstood and gossip about other leadership and employees. This company does not believe in confidentiality whatsoever.
Sad as this is going to sound women are not treated as the male counter part.
Attitude towards older colleagues
There’s no respect not much to elaborate on that, pretty much self explanatory.
Absolutely none! They are told if you want to develope in an area just take a course online but because the management team is so small everyone is afraid of their jobs so there is absolutely no coaching ,mentoring or guidance. Actually really sad as a lot of other companies it’s required to developed in areas that need improvements but work together to ensure all understand the end goal or have team building classes.
Overall compensation for your work
Again if your not in the “group” don’t expect anything . But if you can’t speak English or needing someone to fill out emails and confidential documents expect huge increases.
Office / Work Environment
Horrible just horrible never seen or have ever been apart of a company who likes it better for people not to get along as that’s their way of finding stuff out as members turn on each other and members trying to look good to upper management
Fake just fake back stabbers all of them. And do not disclose any information about anything as within days everyone will know .
Upper management believes you need to spend 12 hours a day no matter the work load.
If your someone who doesn’t have any ideas or possibly have more experiences then those who have been there forever and have no ideas or better ways to improve that’s the company for you! If your self motivated and educated this will never be the place for career advancement
They talk a good game but safety falls at the waste line if there are systems issues i.e conveyors, computers and scanners and are told to do what you have to to be on time.
It is very repeatative they do one thing and only thing. If your someone starting out good experience. if your one that likes to challgne yourself and look towards management for challenges do not waste your time you will just end up frustrated.
Inclusive / Diverse
They try to be diverse but when 80% of employees can not speak English and are clearly “favorites” as the can’t really complain about conditions to upper management and they can only speak to Spanish speaking management which just cover any issues up especially if it is someone they like or feel there’s no need to address their concerns but constantly tell them they will address the concerns and never do.
Suggestions for improvement
- A complete management change seriously needs to be done. The could be so much more profitable.
What I like about the company
The hourly employees those that have stepped up and work together as a team. Not the ones who do nothing and collect a pay check .
What I dislike about the company
Betrayal, lack of support, automatic assumption of violating policies. Mostly is frustrating to work with individuals that only have worked there for their entire career. The lack of experience outside the company has made them complacent and almost arrogant to the point there will be ok changes made unless approved by upper management which I have never seen since I have been there and surely the reason their customers and going with other online groceries deliveries.
