Suggestions for improvement
- More environmentally conscious (less plastic useage) Less tolerance for workplace violence, more tolerance for illness/occasional lapses in performance Update the equipment needed for operation More realistic payroll for sufficient staffing would cut out the necessity to work off clock and boost sales because customers would be more readily assisted Support your employees, if someone is being unreasonable to them and blatantly abusing or outside of our policy, back up your employees, don't leave them to fend for themselves and then punish them for following the policies you put into place. The customers you do this to are not going to talk good about us, they're going to continue to misuse and short usby complaining until they get what they want. You'd save money by telling them sorry this is our policy and in order to keep our employees paid well and our prices competitive those policies must be upheld. Because we're suffering for it down here.
What I like about the company
The company has a really great vision, but needs to streamline. Not environment friendly. They do have mandatory training that is very educational if you utilize it properly. The company itself is decent, it's the location I was at that isn't good.
Upper management is grumpy and indifferent at best, incredibly difficult to please after you've been there a while. There's a double standard, and favoritism. If you aren't working off the clock you can't get your job done. If you work off the clock and get caught you're in trouble. The discount is great if you have pets, but even that isn't worth dealing with the insanity.
What I dislike about the company
Not environmentally friendly (excessive use of plastics)
Many training modules are outdated and have a lot of discrepancies
Unrealistic expectations of employees (lack of appropriate payroll, insufficient time to complete tasks such as maintenance and pre-opening tasks)
Continually rearranging stores and confusing/frustrating customers by moving their products to different locations within the store
Emailed coupons never work and the cashier's get faulted for it by customers
Slow to non-existent response time to upper level management inquiries about time sensitive matters
Lack of action by HR for serious matters, extreme actions taken for petty matters
Do all of the toys have to squeak?
Execution of new services could be a lot better
IT issues take forever to resolve, be it equipment ordered or service needed.
It doesn't make sense to have animals housed permanently in the store for sale in small tanks and not allow them to be in a small tank temporarily in overstock or recovery.
