Culture is demoralizing. This dept is a literal revolving door. They have 3 or 4 old-timers they brag about that have been in robot mode since they started just so they can fly under the radar of management, but if you're a mover and shaker, this is not the place for you. You're told there is no cap on your income, but that's a huge lie. In 4 years I saw 3 changes to commission structure. Really sad and depressing. Sales manager is not a manager at all. He's a glorified babysitter.
Support from management
There is little to no support from management.
I didn't see a lot of opportunity for teamwork, it's every man for himself, but if you rise to the top, be ready for the haters.
Freedom to work independently
Prepare for the most micromanagement of your life. Staff listens to every call and reads every email and instant message. Every hour you receive emails from 1 to 4 managers telling you to make more calls and get longer duration. You are fired if you don't make 60 calls with 2.5 hours of duration a day regardless of any productive efforts you make in a day not call related.
Oh, they will communicate, but it will be mostly deceit.
I guess so. Plenty ood men there, and several women in lower management.
Attitude towards older colleagues
I saw a few older people (over 50) be given a like chance in sales, but most couldn't take it and were let go.
Very little career development opportunity.
Overall compensation for your work
No, not really fair. I saw some huge injustice going on.
Office / Work Environment
Everyone on the sales floor is miserable.
People are mostly friendly.
Be there every day from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and that's all that will be required of you.
Not too good.
No job security, and management makemakes feel like any day could be your last.
There is a handicap parking
It's ok, but nowhere safe to go during a tornado.
The work itself is not challenging if you are a good sales person, but keeping up with ridiculous metrics set by an out -of-touch company President makes the job miserable and much more difficult than it should be.
Inclusive / Diverse
Every race there is works at Petra. No issues with that.
Suggestions for improvement
- This company will not improve until some LONG-TIME upper management is retired or deceased. The owner has totally lost touch. Take care of your people!
What I like about the company
The hours and a few employees. Holidays and weekends off.
What I dislike about the company
Culture, management, unpredictability of job security and HORRIBLE micromanagement. I saw over 60 people in the sales department come and go on a span of 4 years. That may be a conservative number, so maybe more.
