Very poor communication between management and employee and terrible communication from higher (owner) to employees. No annual (or ANY) reviews. I had to solicit feedback.
Would pay for books, but nothing further.
Overall compensation for your work
Salary was decent, but benefits were bad and got horrible as time went on. As a profitable, privately held company I saw the employees take the hit every time there was a choice between the company and employees. Employees were clearly not valued!
Was laid off after 12 years with no notification whatsoever!
Suggestions for improvement
- 1) Value your employees 2) Vastly improve communication. 3) Implement formal annual review process. 4) Vastly improve health/vision/dental care coverage and cost

Poor communication. Terrible benefits (Health, dental and vision were available but the price was ASTRONOMICAL) Poor job security. Blatant choices by the owner (privately held company) always at the employees' expense.
