This field is regulated by Osha and Fda and other U.N. Laws so when you don't complete a task a certain way you will be reprimanded and possibly fired.
Support from management
Leadership has cooperate mentality and treats employees like you are a dime a dozen. You are expendable and disposable
You have to work as a team in order to get through the day, if you don't your experience will be horrendous
Freedom to work independently
Donors can wait up to 3-5 hrs per visit, you will always have a line because you will always be understaffed
Management will let you know where you are failing at. If you don't improve there will be someone else to take your job.
Fair for women and maternity leave. Women are sexually harassed on a daily basis several times a day, I myself am a man and have been sexually harassed at least once a day working there.
Attitude towards older colleagues
Being promoted only applies to those who brown nose the bosses.
Management never wants you to truly move up in the company. They will lie to you for years until you quit and leave.
Overall compensation for your work
9.50 hourly. Ask anyone to support a household off that and they can't. After 4 years of working with a plasma company I got raises to 11.45 hourly. I was dumb to stay so long, don't make the same mistake.
Office / Work Environment
Working computers date back to 2002 and software predates that. The companies don't want to spend money on cleanliness or appearance of the center.
Company is bound to allow people who are sick donate if they deny being sick even though an EMT can clearly see they are not well. Company doesn't care who these people infect in the process as long as they donate for the money.
Working hours from 5am-10pm sometimes 10:30 pending on how many donors are in the building when the doors get locked at 7pm. Scheduling work days vary from day to day you will never have a set schedule to plan family life.
Employees hate the company, all they talk about is finding another job that pays more and treats you better. Great motivator to go back to college.
You don't have job security you can be fired for any reason they want to give.
If you are disabled while working your only hope to keep your job is to apply for Fmla or you will be fired.
Safety is all they want out of you but being a phlebotomist you have a huge risk of exposure dispite rules in place. They don't compinsate you for that.
Proud of the work you do, customers you help. But the companies do not recognize that, they focus on only numbers and not how well you do your job.
Inclusive / Diverse
Diversity as far as hiring gay/lesbians and people from any race but they do not care what your intelligence level is, what ideas you have, even if you have a degree to back it up. You will not be included for your thoughts on products or how easy they are to use. As long as it's cheaper for them it doesn't matter what your opinion is.
