Company Culture

You are just a number.

Support from management

Some supervisors were wonderful, but senior management is awful.

Teamwork

Worked in a small group/department and had to do extra work for lazy people that called in all the time and senior management did nothing, they even gave her an extra vacation.

Freedom to work independently

Working from Home was great.

Internal Communication

HR is the worst, after 10 years I couldn't even get someone to help me find a job when we had to re-locate - there is no transfer policy.

Attitude towards older colleagues

I had a position where we only went in 1 day a month....a month... and when my family had to move to FL (still in company footprint). I could not retain my position...10 years with company.

Career Development

I went for a LP job in FL having (4 years in a branch and 4 years in Fraud Enterprise) and lost to an Assistant Branch Manager who happened to have same last name as someone big in the company.

Overall compensation for your work

In 2015 they let employees know how underpaid we were compared to other banks with a new pay scale...and then never changed us to match our new pay rate.

Office / Work Environment

Working from Home was great.

Work-Life Balance

Working from Home was great.

Company Image

Nice products

Job Security

Just hope your family doesn't have to re-locate, even inside the PNC Bank footprint..say goodbye to your job.

Inclusive / Diverse

PNC Employee Resource Groups for Women, LGBT, etc. was nice.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Re-Locate - If you have someone in a department already working from home and their family has to re-locate. If the new area is in the PNC Bank footprint, let the employee keep his/her position. There are plenty of branches/towers they can go to for issues...it is 2018. HR - When an employee contacts you with questions about a job, esp if they have a month to find one to retain a 10 year career with your company...respond to the email and help. Pay - If you have the guts to tell us in black and white how little we get paid to other banks....fix it. That is just rude.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Elimination of the 12 month requirement in position would decrease some turnover. More merit based compensation, as opposed to time in position. In stressful environments, such as customer call centers, more stringent hiring could create a better customer turnover, as well as lower turnover.

What I like about the company

This company is an extremely stable employment environment. The company tries very hard to encourage employees and increase retention. They have extremely good benefits, especially paid time off. Tuition reimbursement is valuable and comprehensive.

The company offers opportunity for advancement, but you need to put forth the effort.

The company has made large strides recently to increase its transparency from senior leadership down to low level employees.

Resources for completing job responsibilities are supplied well, and very standardized. Resources for further learning are available at employee discretion.

What I dislike about the company

Requiring employees to remain in position for 12 months prior to allowing career moves can be limiting. In some cases, this has resulted in employees taking positions that they find they do not enjoy with no exit opportunity. This can increase turnover.

Advancement can be difficult in a company of this size. Often, time in position is heald in higher esteem than performance.

Different segments of the company work very differently. Organizations within the company can be segmented.

Company Culture

From the top down, all managers seems to share the same and consistent culture which was welcoming

Support from management

The company has daily huddles where encouragement, ideas, clarification, etc are initiated and followed up all the way through.

Teamwork

Everyone was great and helpful

Freedom to work independently

As long as you are able to work your pipeline timely with very little errors, managers will let you do your job.

Internal Communication

Sometimes teams within the department didn’t communicate with each other well. However, as an employee, if you had a friend on the other teammates; you wouldn’t have any major issues.

Gender Equality

Mostly females which seems consistent within most mortgage companies. We had four teams of 15 teammates and each team had about 3 males on each team.

Attitude towards older colleagues

As an older employee, there were never any issues from my prospective.

Career Development

Highly favored

Overall compensation for your work

The pay was standard but the bonus plan was a nice incentive.

Office / Work Environment

Strict when it comes to not having or wearing your employee badge on display during office hours or trying to piggyback off another employee to enter the building.

Work-Life Balance

Company allows you to work from home when necessary and encourage you to share non work accomplishments.

Job Security

In my department, the company let contract workers go before permanent employees and then tried to reassign or help move the permanent employees to other areas before laying anyone off.

Inclusive / Diverse

The department was very diverse.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Technology could be better. Some methods for delivery to customers are overnight only. Dropping things off at the FedEx box seems outdated.

What I like about the company

The company culture seems like they care for their employees and the bonus structure. Also, the ability to work from home as a mortgage closer.

What I dislike about the company

Nothing major
