Ignores positive actions and focuses on the negative without any reassurance or praise. Ever.
Support from management
Sets unrealistic, impossible expectations for the time you are allotted.
Ideally if you are working with a productive group of people everything will run smoothly with teamwork. Ideally.
Given limited information or explaination for company policies.
Men seemed to be promoted before women in my region. She seemed to dislike female competition and would promote based on personal opinion and cattiness.
Attitude towards older colleagues
No one appreciates anyone. Because of the job, younger employees are preferred.
They encourage a fast-track to management. But there are no benefits. Minimal raises and increased responsibility without and appreciation for your time or skills.
Overall compensation for your work
Pay is ok. Not when you realize you spend all your time with they company and have lost every other aspect of your life.
Office / Work Environment
Work environment is suitable. Clean, if you keep it clean and organized (and if this is something you value you may have to be the only one to facilitate it).
No recycling. Throw away mounds of leftover background paper and mistake prints and reams.
Non-existent. Prepare for 6-day weeks. Working every weekend. Shifts from 7:30am until 9pm. Your manager will call you when you're scheduled to come in at 10 and tell you he/she needs you at 8:30 now instead. When you say you are unable to come in earlier bc of an appointment you made based on your schedule he/she will tell you it was not a question. It was a demand.
Not at all, it was referred to as the McDomalds of photography. If you want something higher quality you'll have to pay more somewhere else. Clients would always mention how they also go to a professional photographer. As if this was not my profession. Insulting and degrading considering my advanced degrees and experience.
They say they don't hire for holidays and if you do well enough you'll stay. 100% false. They hired 7 people for Christmas and fired 8 the week after Christmas and were unwilling to give any expalination or reason for doing so. You were constantly threatened you will be fired if you don't exceed the company's impossible standards. Set unrealistically by upper management who has no idea what it's like to work in a studio.
Sure. You can get in the building and more around but you will have very limited options in the camera room.
The biggest safety concerns stem from unruly children and parents who refuse to reign them in. So your fingers will be stepped and jumped on, you'll be hit, and you'll be kicked on a nearly daily basis. Be prepared to be covered in bruises.
Limited creativity due to excessive protocol and unwilling clients.
Inclusive / Diverse
On paper they are, in reality you won't be recognized for interesting work.
What I like about the company
Very little. Pay is ok and coworkers, generally, are pleasant.
What I dislike about the company
Everything. Unrealistic, undervaluing, lack of any free time, demanding, degrading.
